I was googling for Audrey Horne pics yesterday and came across what looked like a band who calls themselves Audrey Horne. What?!?!?!? No one should disgrace our resident beauty's name like that! Does anyone know anything about this band or ever heard of them? On a side note, I will be forming a band and playing bass in it called Jacques Renault and the Bong Tokes.

Ewww, they're emo. *gag* http://youtube.com/watch?v=UgxScJ6wZy8 I guess it's pretty emo to name your band after a girl that would undoubtedly rip out your little nancy-ass heart and shit on it.

I remember checking them out a while back and just dismissing them as an Alice In Chains rip-off band, but after hearing their latest album i've changed my mind. Sure it harks back to the grungey old days, but it's catchy as hell. Some of their riffs are boss. And christ no, they're not "emo". Leave that tag with the My Chemical Romances, and the Fall Out Boys thanks. As for other Twin Peaks band names, i wanna call a band "James Hurley and the Big Foreheaded Teary-eyed Pussies".

They might be ripping Alice In Chains off in the sense that they're playing guitars but unfortunately (for them) the similarities end there. I was thinking yesterday how much I miss Alice In Chains and Layne Staley.
On a similar subject (Seattle, band names) The Foxy Sluts is my favourite band name of all time.
I ran from the noise and the silence, from the traffic on the streets

Okay, yeah. You do understand my original post though, right? You seem to be re-iterating my point yet also arguing against it. I too miss Layne, it's another tragic loss in what seems to be a re-occurring pattern amongst the seattle scene (which seems to have missed Lannegan, thank goodness).

You know when you turn on the radio, and there are channels where every song sounds like the same band? Whiney and cheap and mass-produced? This is what that sounds like to me. I'm told it's emo, but I guess emo has become blanket derogatory terminology for "the crap kids listen to these days." I'm old, sue me.

(at the Double R, lost in a cup of coffee) God, I'm luke-warm to this music. Isn't it too forgetable? though this band has good taste in names, which I think is pretty nifty.

Oh god yes. I know exactly what you mean. I remember listening to the radio at work a couple of weeks ago and some song came on, and one of my colleagues piped up saying "This sounds awesome, reminds me of *insert whiney emo band name that escapes me*", then it came on afterwards that it was The Jonas Brothers and that they are some Disney endorsed band apparently. Pretty much in the same breath he said "Nah, that sucked actually." and got quite embarrassed.
Everything really does sound the same, especially at the moment.

As an aside, the band Superdrag, has a song called Garmambozia on its album, Regretfully Yours. Don't remember if the lyrics were significant or not...

please do not think less of me for this! i couldnt help it! i am semi-ashamed, sort of, to say that i went to high school and was in a band with the drummer from my chemical romance. he was a good guy, but after seeing him in mascara and with angular gooped up hair, im kinda glad our band broke up when he moved to L.A. this was high school of course, and since ive been playing music around chicago for the past ten years or so, through mostly in the more experimental realms, through friends in other bands, i knew fall out boy as well. im not naming names, but two of the guys were decent and friendly, and two of them were whiny bitches.(guess who?) i just wanted to confess that, tho i cant stand their music, not ALL of them are truly emoish guys. but i cant speak for the rest of my chemical romance, who i fear fall into that catagory. anyway, on topic, i think all TP related band names should be off limits. the whole pop culture reference phenomenon which has accelerated in the past years is beyond poor taste in my opinion. except in fantasy, as on this thread.

The lyrics don't pertain specifically to anything from Twin Peaks, in my opinion, unless heavily interpreted. The songwriter, John Davis, was known to be a Twin Peaks nut; he may have used that title because the general sense of malaise and longing expressed in the song sort of equated to "pain and sorrow." Some of the lyrics do refer to drugs, dreams, "dying" and "screaming"--themes pretty closely related to TP.
