I don´t know if you have talked about this, but I have this theory. In Mulholland Drive we can see another time the Red Room and the  Man From Another Place (with his metallic voice [the translation to the spanish language added this characteristic]),obviously phisically deteriorated. It means that the Black Lodge will never ends? The man with the white hair behind the dwarf will be an old Cooper? (I say this about his corporal expression) What you think about it?

I dont think they are related. I think it is more the case tht similar themes crop up in Lynch's work because it comes from his subconsicous. He likes certain images such as curtains, club singers, strobe lights, and fire. I don't see them as being part of the same world. It would be nice to think that they were, I certainly like that idea, but I think it would have to be a lot more explicit for it to be anything concrete.

The more I watch TWIN PEAKS and Mulholland Drive, the more I wish the series Mulholland Drive had been given the green light by ABC.  I think it would have been every bit as good as TWIN PEAKS and perhaps more consistent.

Indeed.  The gag is that those are obviously not his legs, I think it's one of his most unnerving performances.

I'm probably wrong, but wasn't Mulholland Drive originally supposed to be an Audrey Horne series, with Audrey as a struggling actress?

I had a long debate about this with someone before the site crashed. I won't go back into it in details, but I feel MD and TP are far far far far far far far far apart (is that enough fars? maybe not).

Briefly, reasons being: aesthetic, structure, and message. MD is the dark, TP is the light.

This would look good on your wall.

I don't think it's a clear cut case of light and dark - good and evil - happy and sad.  TWIN PEAKS the series has some extremely light, comic moments, and a lot of soapy content, but it has a dark story at its heart and FWWM is as dark a film as MD.  MD itself for the first half has a lot of light comedy, and whilst the end could be interpreted very bleakly, I don't come away from MD with a heavier heart than watching FWWM.

i do not mean that they are completely white or black. that would be silly. what i mean is their outlook in general.

I always felt that the scenes in the apartment of harold smith felt strikingly similar to the apartment in Muholand drive where she discovers herself dead.........

R they the same place??

they both have the same kind of lingering heavy darkness

YES!  David Lynch and Mark Frost have repeatedly said that the original story of Mullholland drive was supposed to be about Audrey going to LA to become an Actress....but when enough time passed, this was dropped and Lynch did his own thing.  Some of the style remains though...

I don't think they are related except by their inherent Lynchness.  He uses recurring themes in may of his films, that just makes them a Lynch.

It is important to remember that some dark places do not need light.
