I remember there being a minor feeding frenzy prior to the Twin Peaks Fest because the still photographer was supposed to be bringing all manner of unseen delights to bait attendees with. I've been sitting at my computer fair salivating with anticipation ever since and nothing... Could somebody put me wise on what happened with the stills? Were they delightful? Were there any on sale?

The stills have made an appearance at the festival every year for the last...Seven? years...so it's nothing to get flummoxed over. You'll see them when you attend next year. There were some new albums this year, but to be quite honest, it's all just "same shit, different day" really. No mysteries solved or new unseen footage kind of stuff. Dunno...I've never understood the frenzy over them anyway. :)

And no, none of them were on sale like we were told we would have. We're hoping that materializes for 2009, but to be brutally honest, I don't expect that to be the case then or probably ever.

Thanks Amanda. I didn't realise the stills had become a regular fixture. I saw them mentioned on another board before the festival and was led to believe they were so rare and exquisite that just looking at them could send you mad with wonder. I found myself yawnng slightly when I read they might be available to buy if for no other reason than being a Twin Peaks fan has made me cynical. Oh we've changed our minds about that all-singing, all-dancing Fire Walk With Me special edition. Take the deleted scenes back to the vaults...

Collecting rare Twin Peaks stills is how I get my offbeat thrills. If I attended the Twin Peaks festival and was confronted with even the most mundane stills I'd probably expire with rapture but you have to remember that circa Twin Peaks you couldn't even buy the Card Art in the UK. We still don't have season two over here yet, though we do have antibiotics and running water, but I digress...

I don't think I like the idea of somebody turning up with Twin Peaks stills, letting folk look at them and then taking them away again. It's like tormenting dogs with meat. There's a whole industry developing on the internet of people talking bollocks to cosy up to people 'in the know'. Everything is in some way the greatest thing ever and I find it disorientating. They might as well be walking around with sandwich boards that read 'Will trade superlatives for advance copies'. Fortunately in fan boy terms I got the mint in original packaging gene instead of the starfucker gene.

Which is a long-winded way of saying that (as ever) I appreciate you (brutal) honesty...

Are we talking about Paula K.'s on-set pics?  She has the negs. She could make some money off those.  (I got JJW and Audrey picnicking by the lake in Malibu as a gift.)

btw, I have the "starfucker gene" lol

Yeah, there was mention that she would have the photos available for sale, but hasn't followed through on it yet. There was also talk of a coffee-table book of some of photos but that hasn't happened yet either. She's just an incredibly busy person and I think doing the photos is the last thing on her mind which is sad. Because you're right, Angel, she could make a KILLING from selling that stuff!

Well technically, she did have some photos for sale. Signed pics of James, Piper, and one or her and James. :)

You're a creature of exquisite taste!

As much as I'd love a Twin Peaks coffee table book I doubt it would be financially viable, but 10x8" prints are a horse of a different colour.

I've also been feeling frustrated that there aren't more of Lorey Sebastian's Fire Walk With Me stills in circulation.

I was recently in the presence of the Paula pics and thought I'd give you an idea of what you're missing. There are two boxes, jam packed with negatives and slides, and albums. EDIT: That is a Johnny Horne buffalo target on top:

Thanks for that 12rainbow, you're a star.

If I'd been at the Twin Peaks festival I could have pretended to have some sort of fit to distract people while you loaded the slides and negatives into a stolen getaway car and then made for the er, Mexican border. It would have been grand theft on a scale that put Numbergate to shame.

Cue humourless Twin Peaks fan standing by roadside holding his ill-gotten 6 as we screech past pursued by police helicopters, television reporters and Empire Strikes Back style bounty hunters.

I'd love to see those stills.

Hehe, If they were at the Fest, I'm sure PsychoDave would have found a way to steal them.  Sadly, they never made it to the Fest.  I know I wouldn't trust TSA with those boxes as far as I could throw them- and that load is so heavy I don't think I could even pick them up, let alone throw them.

Twin Peaks Archive is hosting some rare stills, according to dugpa.com.  Here's a link:

Thanks Angel*, I'm looking to restart that tonight. I really hope Paula comes out with a coffee table book of her complete Twin Peaks images and not just a calendar. Some of the pictures are just stunning!!

Jerry, I have found myself checking the Archives site frequently for marathon updates too.  Can't wait to read your season 2 ep comments.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

I have the stills Twin Peaks Archive's hosting, 12rainbow. I bought the digital images from the same seller as Jerry Horne along with the slides many of them are taken from. There's between 80-100 images in total and while many of them aren't that rare they are lovely. A few of the season two stills were a surprise, like the ones of Audrey and Wheeler. I was just thrilled to find the picture of Laura leaning against a tree that's on TPA at the moment.

Is a coffee table book basically a book filled with pictures that you put on your coffee table for people to read? I enjoyed the little booklet that comes with the Lime Green Set, and will most likely purchase this.
