Hello lovelies, I don't know how many of you read the magazine BUST (it's a women's magazine for very cool chicks), but this month they are running a fashion spread inspired by Twin Peaks! I've seen a few of the pics online (there are a few Audrey and Dale and one Laura on her bed writing in her diary, so far) but not anywhere near the whole spread. I would gladly buy the magazine but I am in London and I don't fancy paying 40 bucks for a subscription ...not to mention I don't have the required payment type even if I did. Can anyone help me by either scanning the pics if you have the magazine, or digging them up online? Hell I will even pay for shipping (and the magazine) if someone can send it to me. I need to see these pics! Thanks, Kristen

I am going to head to the bookstore today to see if I can find it. If I can, I'll pick up several copies. I'll let you know if I can find it. PsychoAU

They're holding a copy for me at Tattered Cover. I'll pick it up after school tonight and we'll do business. I want to see it, but feel no burning need to own it so this works out well.

This is probably the first time since I started subscribing to the magazine that I got truly excited over its arrival. And then it arrived and...meh. It's cool but nothing to really bust a gut (or a wallet) over. I didn't even bother to add it to the Town Hall library during the fest. Frankly I was kind of disappointed by it, since they had a prime opportunity to really mention the show and other stuff and all it turned out to be was a fashion spread of shit I couldn't possibly afford. (and really, have you noticed how unreasonable the prices of most of the outfits in BUST are? I mean, shit, for a magazine that prides itself on offering up many do-it-yourself money-saver projects, they really have no concept of cost when they showcase clothing. $150 for a jumper? No thanks)

Borders and Hudson News also carry it. You might want to just call around, though it could be a bit harder to find since the issue has been out for over a month.

Last month's issue of my fave mag Bizarre has a very interesting interview with Catherine Coulson (complete with a story about the Log Lady's glasses that I've never heard)...

Guys, it sucks. I couldn't bring myself to pay $4.99 for it because I was so disgusted they had the nerve to put 'Twin Peaks' on it. Aside from the photos from that link, here are the others (snapped with my uber-shitty camera phone, which is okay because it was an uber-shitty layout): EIDTL Ugh, the m'effing gazette won't let me post them. Just getting red x's in little boxes. Lelandloveslaura, pm me your email and I'll send them to you. Anyone who thinks they can do a better job posting the pics, pm me with yours.

I scanned in the entire spread tonight but I'm too lazy to upload it at the moment. I'll put it all up here tomorrow when I'm less tired...

http://toasterized.blogspot.com/2008/07/twin-peaks-inspired-fashion.html , So to compensate for the crappy magazine pics, here's something cool. A pic I took of the FWWM Palmer house (the inside, through a window) during the 08 TP Fest

Oh good, I'm glad someone put them up. After I scanned them all in, I stopped caring. It really is a shit spread. I've never had enough balls to walk up and get snaps through the window. Almost every time I visited, there were neighbors keeping a watchful eye on us. It was kind of creepy, actually.

Obviously the BUST set was acknowledging current fashion trends, and Twin Peaks just happened to be an easy theme for a spread (and timely, what with the popularity of the God Box.) Now- Fashion experts say trends come back cyclically. I always tell people that if you never change your wardrobe, eventually it will come back in style.
The last 5-7 years has been all shoulder accentuating tunic sweater dresses, garish colors, leggings, stirrup pants and leg warmers. (Before that it was low-rise flare leg skinny pants of the 70s.) Now it's plaids and contrasting layers, and high waisted pencil skirts.
I've been freshening my closet at some online Japanese online boutiques and Bebe, who generally stays cutting edge, unlike me. (I keep it simple, tight and black) and suddenly realized one of my picks was uncannily Donna (not that horrible thing from Miss Twin Peaks, but the gray and black one.)
Are we really moving into the next 5? Twin Peak-era, through '92? I read somewhere that the return to the flattering classic high-waisted cut is a direct reaction to the muffin top phenomenon. But the rockabilly and beatnik styles are very form flattering, so I was so happy about this 50's twist on the baggy disheveled grunge look. Look around. There are pleated skirts with jersey knit tops over oxford shirts. There are plaid pencil dresses. Stick a solid colored blouse or turtleneck under one, and voila: Twin Peaks.
If Audrey started sleeping over at Bobby's, she might start dressing like this. Or if Donna and Laura combined their wardrobe. Lana Milford wore snug plaid-accented dress suits. Think Kinderwhore toned down and exploiting it's Seattle origins. Sex up the Save the Pine Weasel fashion show, and you have Fall 2008 fashions. I'm coining this look "Lolita Lumberjack." You heard it here first, folks. I'd like to think that Twin Peaks played a part in ushering this look in. If it did start in Japan, you could bet that's exactly what happened.
