Hey, sorry, i know that a thread like this exists (i trawled through but couldnt find it!!) and i hate bringing up topics that have been milked to death...but I'd like it if people shared thoughts on twin peaks inspired or music that even inspired twin peaks...and i dont mean 'tributes' that have names like 'dead laura black lodge' but are just death metal which does not have the same tone as peaks music...
'Freefall' from Robin Guthries album Imperial is uncannily like the theme. Steve Roach and Robert Rich- 'Touch' from Soma. And for those who have not done so, i strongly recommend looking into the thre This Mortal Coil albums (Song to the Siren inspired mysteries of love, which led to more Julee Cruise music, which led to a lot of Peaks music!)

This Mortal Coil's It'll End in Tears album is fantastic. Are their other albums as good, Cooped?

A few months ago I went to a concert with The blond redhead. The warm-up band is called Devastations and when they started playing I felt like I was a part of a Davis Lynch movie. They were awsome!!! The first song they played is called "Oh me, oh me" and it really reminded me of theme from Inland Empire. I know you are asking for TP inspired music but I could easily imagine this stuff being played in the Pink Room scene in FWWM. Check them out on myspace: www.myspace.com/devastations There are some really good songs there. Or go to Youtube and search for "devastations oh me, oh me". There´s a live performance there. Sorry I can´t copy/paste it for you Hope you like it Ditte

Bohren & Der Club of Gore seem the obvious choice. Their music basically expands upon the darker side of Badalamenti's Twin Peaks work, like Sycamore Trees, Fire Walk with Me or The Red Room. Their early albums, like Gore Motel, are heavily reminiscent of The Pink Room and Blue Frank. The later stuff sounds closer to the aformentioned three songs. For a good sampling of their output, I would suggest the following songs: * On Demon Wings * Darkstalker * Midnight Black Earth * Dead End Angels
Also, anything by Henry Mancini, who was probably a major influence on Badalamenti. Touch of Evil, The Jazz Sound from Peter Gunn, even The Pink Panther,.... Perhaps noir soundtracks in general, like Chinatown, or Farewell My Lovely. I also like the selection of songs on the soundtrack of Eyes Wide Shut (Masked Ball, Migrations, The Dream). The movie btw, is probably the closest any director ever got to replicating the style of David Lynch.
