I'm not trying to be controversial or paint anyone in a bad light, but I have always wondered what actors and actresses from the show and film were cool as hell and the ones that were "difficult" to work with due to attitude or ego?  I didn't know if anyone on here has inside information about life on the sets of the series and FWWM.  This has always been a nagging question to me for some reason (like just about everything else about Twin Peaks).  I'm not trying to judge any of the actors, just more of what a typical day on set on Twin Peaks was like with each of the actors.  All of the characters on the show were so three dimensional and quirky and I just want to know what their real life counterparts were like.

Kinda off-topic I know, but I just saw Michael Horse in Malcolm in the Middle, playing a native American casino-owner and I was just checking out his imdb page:http: //www.imdb.com/name/nm0395398/ and all the character names are Storm Cloud, Jonathan Eagle etc.

It seems that virtually every character he has played has just played on his native American heritage. And talking of the "3-dimensionality" of Peaks characters, it just seems that the only things Hawk ever said were about the spirituality of the woods and the caves etc., because it fit in with his stereotype.

You're right about the stereotype, but most if not all of the citizens of Twin Peaks seemed "real" to me, although I can't quite put my finger on why.

I do agree with you on the most part. There were a few which I didn't percieve as so realistic, Windom Earle and Annie Blackburn are two. Earle's outlandish style played by Welsh didn't convince me. And Annie even comments to Cooper and Shelly about how she is seen as an innocent convent girl but then she is portrayed as just this. She actually seems too perfect, but I find the way Heather Graham plays her makes Annie quite annoying, but I can't explain why.

Saw 2 TP actors on other shows recently. Kathleen Wilhoite plays a very un-Gwen-like put-upon waitress that Jack is forced to take hostage in the first season of 24 (Keifer is rather un-Sam  Stanley-ish). And Kenneth Welsh plays himself in the 3rd season of the wonderful Canadian show about theater folk: Slings & Arrows. Ken is an actor who's been passed over to play King Lear. He throws a monstrous tantrum (which, as anyone who's met him will tell you is not how Ken is),  & is funny, yet scary.   And though it's not a character flaw, but there are legends about Michael Ontkean's gas problems...

This was Stephen Gylenhaal referring to Billy Zane was it not? I remember somebody on here quite a while back now saying that they spoke to Stephen and he confirmed this.

Not to shit-stir or anything, obviously!

I thought this character was pretty ill-conceived from the start, and too obviously planted as Cooper's love interest. And why did they get Heather Graham to play Annie, when the whole plotline was devised to avert uncomfortable tension between Cooper and Audrey in the first place? Heather Graham looked even younger than Sherilyn Fenn...

If it is true, I am surprised that an actor only coming on Twin Peaks for a handful of episodes would act in such a manner.  I figured it would be a series regular who thinks their career is about to rocket and they are getting too big for Twin Peaks.

Are most Peaks fans decided that a Cooper/Audrey romance would have been right for the show. I do love the pairing but I can see why it was decided that an out-and-out romance wouldn't have been appropriate.

I think it would have been awesome minus a physical relationship.

This may be my favorite Peaks picture of all time.  God bless America!

True, but they could have at least kept the tension alive. The way they diverted the plotline into conveniently planted love interests Annie and Wheeler was just clumsy.

Thematically, a romance between Audrey and Cooper could have been very interesting, but it doesn't really fit with the nature of Cooper's character.

I agree. I think the Audrey-Cooper sexual tension was great, but taking it that one step further would have been just too much. I think Cooper would have perhaps acted more on his feelings when Audrey was older, though, and that would have felt more appropriate for not only the series but also for his character. I'm a big fan anyway of that drawn-out sexual tension between lead characters. I never wanted Mulder and Scully to get together because for me the "almost but not quite" aspect of their relationship was more delicious. Same with Joel and Maggie. Audrey and Cooper. Yadda.

Now Annie on the other hand...yeesh. I understand why she was brought in...they needed to illustrate the one flaw Cooper had that would be his misstep in dealing with Windom and the Lodge. But good god...I think the whole character of Annie was just poorly-designed anyway. It didn't need the help of Heather Graham's rancid acting to make it worse (though she did just that anyway; thanks there, Heather).

I think the misconception is by having the "romance" means that they are involved.  In a story, it just means that you keep the tension and the audience hooked.  Just like in any other series -like Sam and Diane, Ross and Rachel, David and Maddie -you don't get them together, you keep them apart but connected through the narrative.

Twin Peaks was dark and twisted and about conflict -yes, even with Cooper.  Themematically the show was setting up triangles with Cooper/Audrey/Ben and Cooper/Audrey/Windom Earle and then doubles with Audrey and Laura, and Audrey and Caroline- so seeing Cooper conflicted, and Audrey's yearnings would only build drama and tension.  To have them going steady or some such nonsense would be silly, but keeping them in the realm of the story structure would have been correct.

Audrey surrounded by red drapes and praying and the giant telling Cooper he forget something; Cooper not able to focus on clues but on "the content of her smile" all goes out the window for the cohessive piece which we had been following for almost a year.  Wheeler and Annie if you break it down supply the same story line and attributes that the projected Audrey/Cooper story line would have followed -but here it is excellerated without the history and without any of the four characters earning it -there felt very little satisfaction because Annie was the subtext of Audrey (retreated from the world) and Wheeler the subtext of Cooper (forthright, extracting the good of others) without any of the layers being peeled away.

To me, and all my Peaks fans at the time, it was a huge disappointment.  It still is.

Dana is pretty cool. I had to be urged to talk to him because I was convinced he didn't want to be approached. Probably freaked out in the Festival environment, can't say I blame him. He's got a great smile up close.

Dana was very cool at the fest.  He went on the filming site tour and gave his imput on the Deputy Cliff drug deal shoot out scene which was really awesome. Dana also shared with us that the same fire arms tech who worked on "The Crow" worked on FMMW.  Spooky!!!!!

I asked him who he like working with more Machen or Sheryl? I thought he would ignore the question but   He thought about it for a while, hummed,...  Machen.  I think I have it taped somewhere. Good Times!!!
