I've just finished watching episode 29, and really appreciate it, much more than the first time, when I was disappointed at it's lack of wrapping up the series. It's amazing how scenes, like where Nadine doesn't recognise Mike and asks Ed where the drape runners have gone, in Lynch's direction, are suddenly amazing scenes.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions about episode 27, before Audrey leaves to see John Wheeler for the last time. What is it that suddenly makes Ben Horne turn around frightened? And when Pete is saying he has seen Josie's face, in the Great Northern's fireplace, is he just reciting a poem, or does he actually think he can see Josie?

We'll never know for sure, but most people think Ben saw or heard Josie as did Pete.

Ok. I'm a little surprised that I've never heard anyone comment on it.

I'm surprised too, I've read that many times.

After just watching the last episode, it seems a bit strange that Doc Hayward is suddenly nursing Cooper after just apparently killing Ben Horne. Of course, I'm sure that has been discussed before.

I'd be willing to bet the Doc Hayward thing was a continuity error.

Indeed it has. Are you watching the series for the first time? If so, wow.

No, second time. I was just asking some questions that I didn't think of the first time for some reason.

The general consensus over the years has seemed to be that Ben Horne sees the face of Josie Packard in the wood of the Great Northern. Supposedly, Josie's trapped spirit would've become a recurring plotline in Season 3.

I wonder, myself, about Doc Hayward being present for the finale. Some people take it as an indication that Ben survived, thus Doc not sitting somewhere in a holding cell. Then again, aside from the doctors at the hospital-- is it even _in_ Twin Peaks, or just the nearest one?-- Doc Hayward seems to be the only doctor in town and the only one to treat any of the main characters (just as it seemed that half the town lost legal and tax services when Leland died). So even if he did ice Ben, he could've been brought to tend to Coop simply because it was the most convenient option in an emergency situation.

So, there was some kind of (still really lame) reason for Josie's face being in a doorknob as she is now eternally trapped in wood...

In season 3 Josie's spirit was supposed to be trapped in the great northern....and they were going to use her image to expain the strange subtlies they threw in towards the end of the second season.  That was always my understanding anyway.

Ben definatly saw something....and as far as Pete reciting josie poems about SEEING Josie....I felt that was supposed to give us a hint in the right direction.

As far as Doc Hayward being there when Cooper wakes up....

I never thought Ben was dead....I just thought that Doc Hayward knocked him out and we had to wait and see how Ben would recover.  m Would he wake up and still be on a path of goodness....or would he fall back to his old ways?

He was still twitching when they last showed him.

We were just rewatching this part of the series the other day, and my friend K and I were talking about just how idiotic Cooper is.  The freakin' Giant stands there and waves his arms at him, silently mouthing "No!" or whatever and Coop just stands there looking dazed.

He was blinded by Heather Graham's robotic dialogue delivery.
