Something About Amelia was a made for TV movie (ABC even) that dealt with incest. It starred Ted Danson and Glenn Close and won a couple Emmys and Golden Globes.

I kind of remember that movie.  There approach wasn't as dark.  It was kind of like a Lifetime movie.  I also remember an after school special about child molestation.  I think Lenny Von Dohlen was in it.

Yeah, it's sort of like comparing being raped to being raped by a clown.

Well, the TV show Twin Peaks didn't really focus or linger on the rape/incest aspect. It was all implied, and barely talked about.

It was the movie that took it head on, but that was a movie, there were stronger more violent movies made in the 70s.

Oh yeah, the 70's horror movies were much stronger than the 80's horror movies.  I think now there is too much of a focus on gore and why many of the horror movies are not good.  Just having gore does not make a good horror movie.

Even though I really like Rob Zombie movies.  I think he adds the extra thing that makes it good.  I also liked Hostel 2.  But the scenes I liked in Hostel 2 wasn't the really gory scenes.  I thought the scenes with the two men talking were the really scary scenes.  I am talking about the movies that most people have never heard of.  I think those movies would be better if they added more to it than just the gore.

You guys are talking about Al Gore here right?

Why would him being in a film make it a good horror movie?

With the panic it has inspired, I'd say An Inconvenient Truth is one of the most effective horror movies of the past few years.

Basically the ABC execs ruined the direction of the show.  Who knows how it would have developed without their interference?

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

I don't know, I think ep 14 is the 2nd best episode of the series, and it's inseparable from the reveal of laura's killer. I'm not sure that I want to wish that episode away, or wish it occured later in the series, I think the pacing was just right on that. The laura case would have become stale at a certain point. Sometimes, executives make decisions that actually have a positive influence on the art. That is certainly not their intention, but it happens.

Lost goes at a glacial pace and makes Twin Peaks look like it was some kind of MTV style fast edited show in comparison.  I think Twin Peaks would have been more accepted today, but I remember even myself getting flustered and wanting to know who the killer was, but I always thought the town itself was so interesting they would have had more stories to reveal.  I still can't understand why there was a gap after the LP murder was solved and the Earle story ramping up in interesting plotlines.  The town and characters were just begging for their quirky tales to be told.

I think lost has been fast-paced this last season.

That aside, that show is controlled by the creators, they even have a definite end date for the show, a rarity for television. They are doing things their own way, so if you don't like the show, it proves that giving the creators complete control doesn't necessarily make for a good show either, maybe the network should have pressured them to reveal things quicker, perhaps?

Lynch should return to the TP universe ,even if it was different stories, on HBO because they would let him run wild.  I know this isn't gonna happen, but it's still fun to dream.
