Hey everyone,

I just saw this week's episode of "Lost" and couldn't help thinking of episode 29.

SPOILER ALERT!

Did anyone think Locke's journey into the cottage was ridiculously similar to Coop's journey into the Black Lodge? Locke leaves Hurley and Ben to travel in alone. They wait outside, sitting on a log, there's a whole "otherworldly" factor to it...

It reminded me so much of Harry sitting outside the circle of trees...

Hurley, as in James Hurley? And he's fat, like Jacques.

I was reminded of ep. 29 with that scene, especially since Hurley offers Ben food.

However, the differences with TP are all in TP's favor. Locke is no Cooper, no matter how much I want him to be. And the writers and directors of LOST are not Lynch. Their attempt to be spooky or intriguing is often very cliche, I think. The rickety old cabin? Even the dialogue is pedestrian and obvious, compared with the insane but poetic utterances of the Black Lodge dwellers.

LOST is my favorite show on TV right now, but it is truly underwhelming compared to the best parts of TP.

The whole deal in LOST about Jacob's cabin reminds me more of CARNIVALE and Management, Ben in this case is Samson... First in season 3 because we're not sure if Jacob even exists and now in season 4 with the moving cabin, very similar to the baggage trailer that Hawkins is told to clean up... Even Jacob's voice when he said "Help me" reminded me of Management...

The big difference with Coop going alone and Locke going alone is that Coop tells Harry he *must* go alone; in LOST both Ben and Hurley are the ones who don't want to enter... That's a huge difference...

Yep, I've mentioned this plotlines similarities to Carnivale before. I actually prefer Lost and Carnivale to TP. I just have so much faith with the writers of both those shows that they know exactly where they're going whereas with TP, the only person I have faith in is Lynch and even then I still don't love ALL of his work.

I love Lost, but I LOVE Twin Peaks and Lost does not even hold a candle to the greatness of TP.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper
