When you have struck up some kind of relationship (a real one where you actually get to meet them as opposed to any virtual relationships that you may have) with a person do you after a certain length of time introduce them to your Twin Peaks ermm fetish? If so, have you found yourself doing this with more than one relationship? Also, have you been disappointed when the other person says that they are not really into it? (Don't get upset by this, it wasn't cancelled because everyone loved it now was it?) Speaking for myself I did in the distant past introduce someone to the Twin Peaks phenom and at the time was impressed that she liked it. Since then I haven't (not having the access to it anymore sure helps on that front!) and now after so many years could hand on heart say that I wouldn't do that again. So, how about you...

Yes, yes, and yes. I wouldn't call it a dealbreaker, but if someone doesn't like Twin Peaks at least to the level of appreciating it and getting through the whole thing once, I do tend to look a little sideways at them... Though, that being said, I don't think I've ever met anyone I know of who actually disliked the show -- most common is just never having seen it, and not being that interested in watching a 30-piece, 20-year old tv show. Luckily, I'm good at cultivating enthusiasm.

I've never dated a TP/Lynch fan. One of my bf's had a casual interest in Lost Highway because he wanted to sample it for his music, another was mildly interested because Marilyn Manson sampled the last episode. But I tell them about it right away. People say I'm "quirky" within 5 minutes of meeting me, so it never surprises them. Also, there's not a stigma attached to TP fandom like there is to Star Trek and the like. Lots of people think it's sort of an edgy interest to have. Anyway, when it gets serious and if they express interest, I'll make them sit through as much as they can handle. As guys get older, I've found they're less scared you won't like them anymore if they aren't enthusiastic about your obsessions, and have no bones about saying they suck. Whatever! I'm pretty secure, and appreciate different tastes. However, if they say they don't like it because it's too weird, it's a sign of problems to come.

I show Twin Peaks to pretty much anyone I'm fairly good friends with... unfortunately my two best friends passionately dislike it (I was pretty much stuck with them by the time I found this out, they're cool people though). Actually this has a bit of an upside to it, since they frequently mention how much they dislike it, which makes other people curious about the show, and whether it's really as bad as they claim. Thanks to them pretty much my entire dorm has heard of the show! Ironic... I've found some other people who like it, but aren't totally hooked from the start or anything, like I was.
That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

What has surprised me is that at my last two jobs I've found people who were fans of the show. They were thrilled when I let them borrow my Peaks books and CDs. (Both of these people turned out to be by far the most interesting people in the office, too.) I think there is a sort of underground of TP fans out there. If you casually mention "Twin Peaks" and someone's eyes light up, then you know.
The question is, Where have you gone?

My boyfriend hates it. He watched a couple of eposides with me, I think if he watched the whole show from the beginning he would like it. He thinks its just a big drama, and he HATES dramas.
"Damn good coffee!"
