I just rewatched episode 16 and it was just amazing. I read a review on the AV Club that says that it was rushed but the unusual fast pace does not stop it from being one of the best episodes.

A question regarding the music at the beginning though. I have all of the TP soundtracks but there are two pieces featured at the beginning of the ep which I'm pretty sure don't feature on the soundtracks. The first is as shots of trees appear at the very beginning and the next when Donna and James are talking in the roadhouse. Am I right and does anyone have bootleg versions?

I want to ask the exact same question.

The start of the episode revolves around the recent death of Maddy (killed in the previous episode). During this sequence a beautiful, melancholy track plays. First there is a brief shot of the Palmer house; then we see Coop, Albert, Hawk and Harry walk slowly toward the camera; then the dark branches of a tree; the camera tracks downward, following the branches, and ending on a letter Albert has extracted from Maddy's corpse. The music plays through this whole scene.

If memory serves the same track appears at various times in later episodes, usually relating to Windom Earle. For example, there's an episode containg a scene where Cooper and Annie are boating, the camera pans over to reveal a leering Earl in fishing garb, and I think the music is playing during this scene too.

I was very disappointed that this piece didn't appear on the season two soundtrack, it's my favourite track from the entire series! Any help in locating it would be much appreciated.

The fact that great tracks such as these were left out of the Season 2 soundtrack, makes you wonder if they were deliberately holding them back for a fourth album.
