Something I've noticed is that, as far as the residents of Twin Peaks go, Ben Horne was really one of the only people who dressed as if it were the 1980s. For the most part, the residents of TP dress like they're in some sort of timewarp with a nexus point somewhere in the 1950s. Donna, Laura, Leland, Audrey, James, Doc Hayward... All of them are consistently clad in retro/outdated fashions. Ben Horne, though, is thoroughly modern in his power attire and track suits. I wonder what the decision behind that was (and where in the world they came up with Jerry's French hillbilly pimp getup).

Twin Peaks is a backwater burg that only entered the fifties two years ago, while Ben Horne is a businessman who travels and knows what's hip in the world (i.e. tracksuits).

On a side note, why did tracksuits have to come back in style? If I see one more flabby butt in a pair of snug pants with "Juicy" printed on the back in huge letters, I'm going to weep.

Ben & Josie went to Seattle for clothes shopping, while all the townies had to purchase their togs at Horne's!!! (Jerry travels, so...)

Simple: Ben was a yuppie when yuppies were king. Since most folks in Twin Peaks probably had to get their clothes at Horne's Dept Store (because they couldn't just scurry off to Seattle whenever they felt like shopping), Ben could corner the market on late 80s fashion in their neck of the woods. Keeping the local peasants forever a few decades behind him. Behold the genius of Ben Horne! muhwahahahaha Audrey just did the 50s thing to spite her dad. That's why she swapped the saddle shoes for red heels once she got to school. Puff puff, Audrey!

True, Ben was a yuppie, he wore double breasted suits and power ties and those damn glasses. Classic yuppie.
