I have recently bought two mugs that are the same kind that were used in the RR Diner. The seller says that he got them from someone who used to work on the sets of Twin Peaks who says that they were used as props, but the seller can not proove this. If this is true, this means that I own two mugs that were actually used on the show! But I dont' know if it's true or not.

Does anybody know if these mugs were availabe on sale in regular stores or if they were only made for the show? If the design for the mugs was created by the people working on the show, then the mugs were probably not available to the public. It wouldn't surprise me if the mugs were created for the show. The mugs are often seen in various scenes shot in the RR Diner. Coffe-drinking is a big part in the show, so it is possible that they wanted to design their own mugs. But I don't know. I've never seen them before, only on the show. But maybe they were just bought in some store and then used on the show. Anyone got any information about this?

Pictures of the mug in question:

The Twin Peaks Fest organizers (Jared and Amanda) scored black, brown and red mugs in that style. They look exactly like the real deal and say Chefsware 1007 on the bottom.  They were $10 apc, I think. So the "same kind" is still in production.

Search "Twin Peaks Mug" on eBay to turn up more of the same. Note that seller writes "Previous owner says that these were used as props on set for several episdoes of the show right here in Snoqualmie, North Bend WA."  This smells like BS to me, since it diverts any accusation of lying away from him. Plus, only one show was filmed in WA (the pilot, and I don't recall those mugs being used in that one.) So it's likely the only mugs that look like that are the ones that have been in North Bend were the ones being sold at the Festival last summer.

There have been more than a few fake TP prop dealers out there.  eBay has been shady like that.

Actually, I haven't gotten them yet.

I've just e-mailed the seller and asked what it says on the bottom.

Wait and see what he says about that.

Doesn't matter if they were props or not to me :)

The mugs we have were procured by a fan who tracked down the exact mug used in the series (through help from a daily prop list actually from the filming) and bought a whole heap of them to sell at the festival and through eBay, which is where we eventually scored them for selling at the festival. So the chances of the mugs on eBay right now being actual props are extremely slim. Since these mugs were actual retail items and not just made for the series, anyone could claim they were actual props and without having a certificate of authenticity from a reputable dealer. I personally never trust "props" or "authentic autographs" on eBay unless the seller can provide a cert of auth from a known, reputable source.

I agree. I'm just glad to be getting two cups that are the same as the ones in the series :)

Totally! :D I've never been a HUGE prop fan myself, but there is something about having little bits and pieces of your favorite shows, regardless of whether they're the real deal or replicas. :)

I'm a huge Trekkie, and when they auctioned off all those Trek props, costumes, models, etc last year, I actually bid on a prop that was dear to me and I thought nobody else would want. Turns out I was wrong and it went for WAY more than I was prepared to pay...LOL I think that's the only time in my life where I've ever gone seriously nutty for a prop. :P I'd gladly take a replica of it, though...

I don't think they are still in production. They are just still available. I'm pretty sure no new ones have been made for at least 10 to 15 years.  I believe Chefsware 207 or 208 look the same as well. PVilmur had a bunch of these, and I believe he was selling some. He's a trusted source, but he'd never claim they were actual ones used on the show.
