QUOTE:

Audrey to J.J. Wheeler

"I'm a virgin."

Way to blow the lid of mystique of that pretty package you numb skulls! I thought this show was about mystery, man! That's a statement for a sub-par teen drama. Audrey was dark, sensual and mysterious but somewhere in the second season she became pretty bland and slowly turned into a "misunderstood teen "stereotype. This line is the culmination of all the dumbing down and bleaching out of her character over the shows final season.

Couldn't agree more.

"Because your skin is so soft and you smell so good?" The always perceptive James...

Heh, I just started the series again with a group of friends, only half of whom have seen it before, and the room groaned collectively on that line.

I've never minded that quote. It's meant to be a remembrance of a happy and (almost) carefree moment, and it's supposed to be in contrast to what Laura says and the way she says it. My sister cringed and groaned, visibly and audibly, though.

"What credit card do you want to put that on?"
"Caash, prease."

I like that one! It sets up the spooky engine oil line with an innocuous, yet disgusting line so that Jacoby's line seems more random.

Sadly, I like it too, Cooper's wide-eyed intensity seems to lend it such gravity..., but it does make me cringe!

Oh, that kind of cringing! Then I agree totally. I just thought this thread was dedicated to the bad kind. But why should it be? So, yeah, good call.

Laura's voice (crossing the barrier of time and space): "Heeeelp meeee". The only moment in the whole first season that I would consider genuinely hokey.

She's probably just stuck in a cobweb somewhere off camera.

Half of what Donna says when she's upset makes me cringe.

For instance "James, I'm trembling. You made me." *yeesh*

Everything that Donna says in that storyline is just annoying. Just because you don't feel that either of Donna's parents deserve it.

Shelly, upon discovering Leo's bloody shirt, "blood...."

One of my friends always quotes that line when I mention TP to her, LOL.

I'm surprised Evelyn hasn't been more mentioned... I don't remember exact quotes right now (and I don't want), but right now come to mind the ones about James' honest taste, your life turning to crap, handsome strangers and rebuilt engines...

Blood Gazebo Hospital would be a terrible name for a band.

I think fans are just upset that this line wasn't said by Audrey, to Coop, under savagely different circumstances.

Huh?  That wouldn't even make sense.  Cooper wasn't Audrey's father, so it would be... oh, wait!  Nevermind.

I agree it wasn't the line per se, it was the character and the circumstance.

I think Evelyn's lines aren't mentioned because I just block that whole part out.

Some of Windom Earle's incessant ramblings really do my head in. Especially when combined with his embarrassing leprechaun-style prancing around the place, playing his gay little wind instruments.

I find his character really intriguing, but i think they took it a little over the top with how mental he is.
