I love Leland's singing throughout the series. Does anyone know the titles of some of the songs he is singing? Some are pretty funny, like "Mairzy doats..." and "...geese better scurry...". I would love to have the lyrics to those two.

I would love to get the lyrics to those too, especially to that Mairzy Doats(sp?) one.

They need to include all of the Leland/BOB duets on the next TP soundtrack, that would be uber creepy.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

Mark Frost (this seems like his touch, though I could be wrong) seems to have liked having Leland quote songs too. He says "Begin the Beguine" (from "Jubilee") in episode 8 and "Shuffle off to Buffalo" (from "42nd Street") in episode 16. Among the ones he sings is "Getting to Know You" (from "The King and I", I think), "Mairzy Doats" (a novelty hit from the fourties), "The Surrey with a Fringe on Top" (from "Oklahoma!"). There's more, I think, but I can't remember any.

All the lyrics should be easily found. It's fairly well-known stuff if you're into musicals.

All right, I'll do it. Lyrics:

Mairzy Doats

The Surrey with a Fringe on Top

Getting to Know You

Shuffle off to Buffalo

Begin the Beguine

Get Happy

I've asked this before but no luck yet. Does anybody know the name of the instrumental music Leland plays when he's dancing with Donna in his living room and is about to kill her but is interrupted by Truman, who needs her help when Maddy's body is found ?

'Getting To Know You' duet w/Leland Palmer & Ben Horne. I love that scene.

"Great. Maybe after the square dance we can all take a hay-ride."

Don't forget "Get Happy," made famous by the late great Judy Garland!

Of course! I knew I was forgetting at least one. And I even have a Judy Garland avatar! I deserve to be chased out of the fan club by an angry mob.

I've edited the post above with a link to the lyrics.

Evenreven, thank you very much for the Leland's songs. I am so happy that I have found them.

Faster and faster. For a long time you wouldn't feel anything. Than you would burst in the fair... forever. And the angels wouldn't help you. Because they've all gone away...

Get Happy is from Summer Stock -the old, "Hey, let's put on a show right here in the barn" variety.

Of course Leland's songs are great because they're all from the genius songwriters of of the past century- Cole Portner amd Rogers and Hammerstein.

This seems kinda on-topic. A little while after my friends and I started watching Twin Peaks, I was sitting in my physics class. My teacher is rather keen to sing little snippets of songs when he's grading. Anyway one day he just pipes up "oh mairzy dotes and doesy dotes and little lamzy divey" I so wanted to chime in with "a kiddle di divey too wouldn't you?" then I thought better of it.

Leland missed his calling on broadway. Seriously.

Not one that he sang... but I also love the record he played: "Pennsylvania 6-5000". The use of that song is so off-the-wall in that scene.

The question is, Where have you gone?

Damnit! I watched the episode the other day where Leland's hair turns gray and he sings "Mairzy Doats" and the song has been stuck in my head since then... This morning I woke up and the first thing I did was to hum "Mairzy Doats"...

The scene where Leland comes into Benjamin Horne's office singing the song is hilarious... with Ben's tap dance and Jerry's break dance

I have that song on my laptop.

I also love Leland's singing on the show but I still can't find out the name of the song he plays on his record player when he's "dancing" in his living room with Donna and keeps turning into BOB on and off - the scene where Cooper and Truman interrupt him before he can kill Donna because they found Maddy's body and they need his help. It's an old instrumental but I'd love to know the name of it and who it's by. I 'm sure I've heard it before the show was ever on.

I've taken to smiling and watching as I auto retract the canopy on my convertible like Leland does. It makes me feel slightly nutty.

Don't have the nerve to swerve all over the same canyon road, but I can belt Surrey With the Fringe!

That "Getting to Know You" part contains one of the best transitions between scenes from the series, both from the previous one and to the later one... Tojamura and Ben haven't even finished talking when we already hear Leland ("Excuse me a moment") and when the song ends, suddenly: "The King and I!!" and we have Pete's and Tojamura's conversation... Everything random, unexpected and perfectly done and directed... Wonderful...
