I absolutely love the TP opening credits.

Badalamenti's lush score accompanied by images of the sawmill, the waterfall, and the slow moving stream along with the 500 actors names flashing onscreen in that really cool TP font.

It's almost like the pacing of the opening credits gets you in a relaxed, trancelike state and slowed down to the TP pace of storytelling so you can "go there".

Does anyone else feel this way? What mood and thoughts are evoked when you see and hear the opening credits?

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

The opening credits were the first thing that grabbed me. As I've said before, I discovered T.P. in my TV of the 80s and 90s class taught by Prof. Robert Thompson at Syr U. He went on and on about the opening credits, how dramatic they were and how rare they were at the time to be so long and enticing. Very much like the Sopranos, it's long yet just about every episode people still watch them.

I do not like the synthesizer track that is right at the beginning (first couple of seconds). Too many songs have used it and it sounds incredibly tacky and cheap.

Yes, the theme song is amazing, it's always been a huge part of the show for me... somehow it just feels wrong having that theme before the lesser episodes though...however I wouldn't say TP had a slow pace in any sense of the word (except for maybe the pilot). If anything it moved far too quickly...

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Hm. Maybe that's why I hate The Voice of Love so much.

I also love the opening credits, even though after 30+ viewings I have to skip past them. it's like a music video. A lumber sawing machine- the organic/industrial thing is so Lynch.

But I always wondered 'why the wren' as the first shot?
