a lot of times when i'm downtown in the midsized city in which i live, i see this young African-American man - mabey mid 20's - who for all the world looks like some one i'd see at a hardcore gig back in the 80's. he wears tight pegged black pants and sports a little red mohawk.dunno, but he looks uber cool. sometimes he's got this new wave deal goin' on, too.

it's damned rare to see these oldschoolers; most folks who are of the punk persuasion these days favor tripp pants/hot topic garb and enough facial piercings to qualify for pin cushion status.

i would love to pick his brains and ask him what bands he likes. i feel confident that it wouldn't be any of the current day emo bands which a lot of people mistakenly call punk...

elderly snog greatly misses when she was a punk rocker in the 80's. eh, well, ya can still bury me in my combat boots and spiked bracelets.

me in the fall of 85 at a TSOL show...

it's pileated, isn't it?

When I was a student my drunk housemate brought these punks back to our house for a party. They had serious body odour issues and tried to snort amphetamines off my tv. Needless to say they were promptly thrown out!

'I look for an opening, do you understand?'

I see people trying for it, but since you can get the clothes off the rack so easily now instead of having to fuck them up yourself, it's not the same -- it looks kinda... plasticky.

well, to use current day lingo, punk 'is all about' diy. if ya get the clothes off the rack, you've no business calling yourself a punk, lol. punks had its roots in a working class ethos, and most were too poor to buy that horrid hot topic crap. btw, 'Jerry' of twin peaks fame had this new wave thing going on which i loved. especially his hair style.

it's pileated, isn't it?
