Member Since 12/21/2005 Posts:5862 View Profile Send PM	Post Reply \| Quote Woke up yesterday morning at 4:30 & went to the bathroom. Then read for about 90 minutes & went back to sleep. Realized later that I was born at 4:30 on Sunday morning, 51 years previous. Went shopping & saw the bookstore clerk I have a mad crush on, then took myself to brunch. The pumpkin bread pudding was very worth it. Got some new bumperstickers (my fave: "God was my co-pilot, but we crashed in the mountains & I had to eat him.") at my friends store, then caught a film at NW Film Forum. Afterwards, I ran into a friend. She bought me 3 birthday drinks, then I went to sing 2 songs at my traditional karaoke bar. Ran into 2 other birthday celebrants, with entourages. Guess I could've tried harder to get a "party" together, but... I'm a rebel, a loner... and a middle-aged one at that. YEA!!! I didn't die again!!!

Chris, Happy Belated Birthday!! See what happens when I return home from Vegas so late???? I didn't get a birthday wish out to ya.

It's kinda nice to have someone to spend the day with, but no one seemed interested this year (I did have a screening of some of my films at Central Cinema the day before. Some folks did show for that). I may never have another significant other, so I may as well get used to being alone. Oh, wait! They say that 50 is the new 40!! Damn, I have to live through my 40s again!? Maybe I can do it RIGHT this time!!! Thanks to all who did remember me. Had 2 groups of people sing Happy Birthday to me. It was awkward & embarassing, but nice. Nice that strangers would be awkward & embarassing for me. At karaoke I did a rockin' version of Sly's Thank You Falettin' Me Be Mice Elf Again... Had KEXP DJ Johnny Horne play Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign for me. Sometimes ya just gotta make your own fun.

Thanks, sweet Angel. I think Rebel's mad at me. Haven't talked to her for awhile. I know this is an non-traditional birthday thread (ya know me, a "rebel" m'self), but I couldn't start one of those regular Happy Birthday deals. How pathetic would that have been? (Next, I spank myself!!!)

During my second & final song: Havin' A Party (Southside Johnny's arrangement of the Sam Cooke classic) everyone from Christine's party was exiting... I carried on, singin' my heart out, just like it was a full house!!! When I was done--- crickets, not one whoop, not one hand meeting another hand. My 15 minutes was up. Time to go home, Pops. Not one of my better birthdays. But at least I didn't sit at home & eat a whole cake by myself (NO! I've never done that).... Truly memorable b-days: 21, 30, 33, 49... Well, at least I have my health... OHHH!!! MY HEART!!! OWWW!!! MY CROTCH!!! Hey, at least I can feel SOMETHIN'!!!!!!
