Whoa, daddy.

I just had to report this - I never thought I'd get a chance to meet my number one favourite human being and filmmaker on the planet face-to-face but fate had other plans for me, as TM people of Finland contacted Lynch and his Europe TM-tour (or whatever?) people and got him to come to Helsinki for two days. On Monday evening he held this typical TM/Films Q&A session for a hall full of excited people, I think mostly young people from 18 to 25.

It went just FABULOUSLY: I got his autograph to my Eraserhead DVD cover, I got to shake hands with him, I got to ask a question from a public microphone and last, but NOT the least, well... I had a camera with me...

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Lwapom, I really hope you will get your chance to meet him, it was *so* great! Naturally there was no time to chat with him in private, it was more like 10 seconds for a signature and a handshake and that's it.

I just NEEDED to get a picture as well so I checked around, saw a guy with an expensive DSLR camera like mine - and because of that knew that he had to have some photographing skills - because all was happening so fast, I knew I would get one chance for the photo and that's it. I took a few pictures of Dave and made all the settings for the camera as SAFE as possible and put it in a mode that would take several pictures when it was pressed just once. All this to ensure that all would go well technically. Then I gave the camera to this guy and rushed through the crowd and a bit rudely in front of the next autograph-thursty fan in the line.

I said to Lynch "Sorry, just a quick photo, if you please. The camera's right there", put my hand around him and the guy pressed the button. The camera took like 8 photos and then Lynch commented "Ok, I think ten's quite enough." I said: "Hehe, it is. Thank you. Thank you really." Lynch replied: "You bet" with a smile.

And now I have this nice photo to watch for the rest of my life. :)

I truly hope everyone will get their chance to meet David, it was such an amazing experience. He's so gentle and fair and good-hearted towards his fans. Phew, I was just mumbling and no words would come to my mouth so I didn't get to say how much I really appreciate him (although I got to mention that Mulholland Drive changed the way I think when I was asking my question from the public microphone).
