Haven't been here in awhile... but AWESOME-NESS.
http://www.consciousnessbasededucation.org.uk/LynchDonovan.shtml

I waited around after his talk outside the theatre. Saw David come out with his entourage right in front of me(!) - and I walked toward him, crying, "David! David!" He clasped my hand, I go like the worst kind of gushing fanboy, "David, it's GREAT to meet you." And his quick - but sincere - reply, "Nice to meet you!" - before his entourage hurried him on.

Probably more later about how I got in and the talk itself, but just have yet to fully process this very very brief cool encounter.

He's in the UK right now promoting TM with Donovan - I believe he has a talk as part of the LFF this week. I could have got tickets, but tbh I'm not that interested in hearing David speak about TM.

Now, if he was talking about TP, that would be a different story!

In other news, I saw Naomi Watts on Saturday night at the premiere of Funny Games U.S - she looked fabulous. Great movie too - possibly better than the original.

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

I went to see him and Donovan yesterday at the Belfast Festival at Queens and was surprisingly impressed. I thought it was gonna be a propaganda session about TM but he basically just showed up and took questions from the floor (which were inevitably all about his films/painting etc) rather than give a pre-planned presentation. He obviously talked a good bit about TM in his answers but I thought he spoke really well and it was a brilliant experience.

As for Donovan, I 'd never heard of him or his music before and he was quite good too!

Good to hear. Still, I saw him at the BFI screening of INLAND earlier this year and I felt I got my Lynch-fix pretty well that evening. I doubt I'd pay to see him again until he's ready to release his next movie. It's cool to hear other TPG members seeing him talk though!

Not heard of Donovan? My dad would call that sacrilege. I'd call it fairly normal

Did he sing? That would have been quite cool

Yeah he sang all his popular songs and some new stuff as well.

There I was sitting there in a room full of people singing and toe-tapping, wondering 'am I the only person who has never heard of this guy?' then he sang that song that goes 'Sunshine came softly through my window today....'  which I knew because its the song used on a magners cider advert over here and I drink buckets of the stuff

Im pretty darn jealous!! Im also a bit pissed that they only went to England, Scotland and Ireland...what about Wales?? That really sucks you know...I would have loved to go. Unfortunately I have too many commitments here to travel to London at the moment. I did catch them on the Today programme this morning though...it was a lovely surprise!!

The same as in Trinity, i.e. no speech, just straight-up Q & A. He (and Donovon) were both on for only 45 minutes each... I actually quite got the impression Lynch seemed slightly annoyed he had to suddenly wrap things up. I was in second after the next guy at the mike (who never got to ask his question), I was going to ask him did he still feel disappointed he never told more stories of Twin Peaks or why he's never cast Kyle MacLachlan in another film since FWWM. But since I personally got to see him in person, hear him speak, then share a moment shaking the man's hand... I'm absoloutly not complaining. :)
