Yes, watch it after you've seen the series. Of course, you could watch it before the series. It could basically spoil you the fun of surprising about the killer in the series but it could be fun (or scary) to see the killer revealed in the movie for the first time. That would be quite shocking, I think. But if you haven't watched the series before you see the film, you would be very confused in several scenes. I'd say that in order to understand the most of the movie, you have to had seen the series before.

yeah, well, i finally saw the last episode yesterday, and i'm still a bit about the ending!
i guess i could have known that it was going to end up like this. but tell me, is it very 'hard' like violence and sound like? i mean, david lynch is pretty good at creating suspense by the soudbites more than pictures, so, just to know how much i'll get scared ;)

There are several scary scenes in the film. A few of them are more like BOO! -scares (like before Leland kills Maddy in the series, it's shocking to see him looking at the mirror and suddenly becoming Bob. and the scene where Sarah recalls the moment he saw Bob hiding behind Laura's bed) and some of them are scary in a slower more "crawling" way (somewhat like the scene where Bob crawls over the sofa).
The film in general is darker than the series. It has it's "funny" moments but the overall tone of it is quite dark.
What comes to violence, it's graphical only in one or two instances (in one of the scenes you'll see a bit of a messy brain coming out of a hole shot in the head). But, in general, I have to say that it shows things that they wouldn't be able to show in the series (speaking of violence, sex, taboos etc.) It's not too violent though.
The soundtrack is very creepy. There is this one theme that will certainly haunt you... It's something like violins playing backwards. To me, it sounds like souls crying, or something like that.
Although I think the scariest scenes happened in the series, I also think that the movie is very likely going to scare you as it has some very scary moments too.

I've seen FWWM way before the series, actually, I just started watching the series. Bite me. I'm a Lynch fan and saw alot of his movies, just didn't ever get my hands on the TP series. I've got majorly hooked now though, that's why I registered here. Anyway, I don't think it'd be a good idea to watch FWWM before the series. I know now what happened, for a bit. It's been a while ago since I saw it so I don't remember that much, but key factors are still in my head and I don't like that to be honest ;)
