If that company MK2 isn't gonna release it to coincide with TP - Gold Box Edition and TP Season 2 Soundtrack in October, why would they ever do it down the line?  These are the last Twin Peaks products I see rolling down the production line in the foreseeable future :(

Umm... boohoo? I'm just glad the Gold Edition is finally gonna come out... I've ceased to care about the FWWM deleted scenes. The ones for Inland Empire were good but not essential, and they didn't really contain anything that added to my understanding of the film... I did love that one with Nastassja Kinski though... anyway I think Inland Empire is a far greater film than FWWM (which I do actually like, btw). Anyway I'm not too worried about the deleted scenes, I'd much rather have the Gold Edition. Besides just because the Gold Edition is coming out doesn't really affect the deleted scenes situation anyway, since different companies have the rights to the show and the film.

I'm sorry but I am boohooing too! Inland Empire deleted scenes are one thing, but FWWM deleted scenes would give us so many more chances to see our favorite townfolk interacting with eachother outside of the series! Norma and Ed canoodling together, Laura making out with Ben, Truman playing guitar to Josie??!! I gotta see it!

Life is FULL of mysteries, Donna.

You could say that, but the whole FWWM film was bent on distancing us from the people of Twin Peaks (aside from the Palmers), challenging what we think we know, and stripping away any sense of familiarity we had with the show. Not that that was a bad thing, since getting "used" to Twin Peaks would take away what was so good about it in the first place, but really I'm not sure the deleted scenes would be such a pleasant experience. From what I've read of the script, the characters we've come to love are saddled with bizarre dialogues that don't sound like them at all (or who we thought they were). Like when we see Coop in FWWM, but he doesn't seem quite the same... this is what made FWWM such a difficult film to like for series fans initially (I did come to appreciate it's many pleasures after a second viewing, however), and if the deleted scenes were released, I imagine that many people would complain about them, not having gotten what they expected. That said, they would be interesting, and I would definitely buy a new FWWM DVD for them... but I'm not gonna be too heartbroken if they never get released (which looks highly likely at this point).

Inland Empire is a convoluted mess ( one of the only Lynch films I have been disappointed with).  FWWM is a masterpiece and any chance I have of revisiting new things (FWWM deleted scenes) in Twin Peaks, I get excited about.

Maybe it's because I can sympathize with the people who booed the movie at Cannes*, but I really don't see the big deal about the FWWM deleted scenes. They don't seem very interesting.

*But I do like the prologue.

I'm a bit gutted by the Richard Beymer interview where he reveals that he never shot any scenes for FWWM, so what other scenes that we assumed were going to be in it (from the shooting script)do not in fact exist??

There's a discussion of what was filmed for FWWM here:

The problem with this thread is there's David Lynch fans and Twin Peaks fans and they're not necessarily the same thing. I'm a huge fan of both and am fascinated by how people who are primarily Twin Peaks fans make sense of the hysteria surrounding DL's films, and vice versa. I love FWWM. It's my favourite film of all time - not because it's a spin-off from the TV series but because it's an incredible David Lynch film in its own right. As long as people insist on seeing it as a continuation of the series they'll never appreciate it. It's not the same thing and nor was it meant to be....

Secondly, whether INLAND EMPIRE is a work of genius or a boring, convoluted mess (I have to go with the former) has nothing whatsoever to do with FWWM. We can have both. INLAND EMPIRE's brilliance doesn't take anything away from FWWM. If the INLAND EMPIRE scenes had been discussed but not released people would naturally want to see them, if only so they could decide for themselves how important they were...

And thirdly, people place too much importance on the FWWM shooting script. Some of my favourite scenes weren't scripted so yes, what's left in the shooting script may not be essential but who knows what else is lying around? I don't personally feel I can judge how essential the deleted scenes are without seeing them first.

As for Richard Beymer not appearing in the film, hour after hour of the series is devoted to Ben and he would have brought very little to the film which, lest we forget, is about Laura. I think the shooting script was too ambitious and lacking in focus anyway. I'd rather not see characters from the series popping up just to please Twin Peaks fans who would still have hated the film anyway, whilst diverting attention away from the real purpose of the film (Laura's last seven days). Many people don't like FWWM and they never will no matter how long it is, who appears in it, or what the blue rose means...

The deleted scenes will be released, it's just a question of when and I for one am quite prepared to kick, punch and claw my way to the front of the queue.

MK2 needs to step up to the plate this year
