here are a few random ones I thought of

Hank Jennings-Christian Slater, Jerry Horne-Martin Short, Ed Hurley-Bruce Campbell, Gorden Cole-Jeff Goldblum, Windom Earle-Bob Hoskins, Harold Smith-Crispin Glover, and Abe Vigoda as the Mayor.

A great director for a project of this much value would be Uwe Boll. I'm sure he could conjure a straight-to-video hit out of this baby!

I know I'm a year late, but you're a freaking genius.  The rest of the list is great too, but wow.

You stole my thunder!  That's exactly the director I was going to suggest!

 In the trailer...

From the producers of Waterworld and The Adventures of Pluto Nash....

comes a scintillating mystery directed by award winner Uwe Boll...

starring future Academy Award nominee method actress Miley Cyrus and Mulholland Drive's headline actor Billy Ray Cyrus...

in this year's acclaimed remake reboot retcon...

*with Shia LaBeouf in a special guest starring role

Sheriff Truman-- Tommy Lee Jones. Play up the "Small town sheriff" angle and make him a southern gentleman...

As a matter of fact, maybe we relocate Twin Peaks altogether. If we're remaking/reimagining it, set it in an isolated outpost of the Southwest. The forests, rivers, and waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest give way to the mesas, prairies, and desert wastelands of the Four Corner states and western Texas.

Dale Cooper-- Matthew Broderick. He's got the same youthful exuberance that Kyle MacLachlan brought to the role, with the added benefit of age. The perfect role for the world's oldest seventeen year old.

Ben Horne-- I'm tempted to say Michael Douglas. After all, he did give us Gordon Gecko, the quintessential evil businessman. However, I'm afraid that the comparison would be too obvious (and apt). Kevin Spacey, as someone posted above, is a wonderful suggestion. He could bring the right amount of ruthless evil and startling vulnerability to the role. However, I think another great choice would be James Woods, who I think could look positively cutthroat in a tight suit and a pair of tortoise shell glasses. Ultimate badass factor: Burt Reynolds, channeling his performance in Boogie Nights.

Leland Palmer-- Tim Robbins comes to mind. After his turns in Mystic River and War of the Worlds, he seems perfectly suited to play a horrendously scarred individual. Dustin Hoffman would be interesting to watch, as well-- as of late we're used to seeing him in light comedy, and as Leland starts off borderlining on wacky, it'd seem to fit to newcomers, and take them wholly aback at the revelation of his culpability in Laura's death. My only concern would be that, outside of a big city, Hoffman's being Jewish would make him stick out like a sore thumb; then again, Leland being one of the only Jews in a small southern hick town, and no one seeming to care, could potentially add to the quirky surrealism of the show.

BOB-- Rutger Hauer. Admit it-- this is the best casting idea you've ever read.

Leo-- John Goodman. I never bought Leo as a truck driver. Sorry, Eric da Re. He was too young, too buff, and too... metrosexual, for lack of a better word. And for me, I just couldn't accept it as a facet of the show's strangeness. It just seemed an out of place casting decision. I always envisioned Leo as being somewhat older, and much more grizzled. In this incarnation, he is your stereotypical dangerous, ignorant hick. Give him a massive beer gut, a Grizzly Adams beard, and a mesh-backed cap perpetually attached to his head. Keep the pony tail, though. Failing Goodman, Billy Bob Thorton, although he'd have to pack on the pounds.

Sarah Palmer-- Diane Keaton. Man, that would kick so much ass.

That's all I can think of for now. More later.

Some other good murder victims for BOB in a remake would be Spencer and Heidi (Speidi) from The Hills. Only in the most gruesome way possible.

Watched "The Spirit" last night. Terrible film, but I thought Gabriel Macht was a dead ringer for Coop.
