So my coworker and I ended up competing today to see how many words we could type in a minute. I kicked his butt!!

In any case, I'm wondering how fast our TPG-ers are. here's the site we used:

http://www.typingtest.com/default.asp

My best was on Wizard of Oz text and I did 81 wpm (net speed) with 92% accuracy and 88 WPM for gross speed.

My speed has actually increased since the last time I took a typing test four years ago. At that time I was at almost 97wpm with a 96% accuracy.

First try with this test, I am 105wpm with 99% accuracy. I know you don't believe me, so I took a screen cap. This was using the Zebra text, but I got similar results with subsequent tests using the other texts. So I guess at least I'm consistent? Dunno. I'm kind of disappointed that my typing wasn't faster. I know there have to be a cubic buttload of people here who type much faster than myself.

The average medium typist is 50-70 if memory serves me right. Anything over 100 is considered an advanced typist. GJ Amanda!

Ugh. I'd like to think that this is somehow an awesome accomplishment, but really it just demonstrates how little of a life I really have. Since only about half of my job anymore is on the computer and most of that is using the num pad (I'm a superfast 10-keyer; certified in it and everything), this means that the bulk of my typing practice has been from being online, chatting and blogging. Good god.  Someone get me out of the house. Please.

I've been working on this post for about two months, using a slingshot and marshmallows, with the keyboard taped to the wall.  It's been arduous, but now I can kill a man, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Congrats to JVS. Man, you did something unique, as far as I know,  and it does not go without appreciation for the eye on the prize effort it must have been.

I even took a typing course a while back.

11 wpm   100% accuracy here.

I suck.
41 wpm/201 characters on the Wizard of Oz.
But at least I got 100% accuracy.
