I remember some time back there was these huge forest fires in LA. And on the news there was pictures of the Hollywood sign and in the background was a blanket of smoke.... I just thought these pictures was very LYNCHIAN.... like it could been in mulholland drive or something....

Here is a link to the type of pictures i am talking about: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremiahchristopher/441028650/

Cool photos definitely...Lynchian?  Sure I guess so.

Lynchian: "refers to a particular kind of irony where the very macabre and the very mundane combine in such a way as to reveal the former's perpetual containment within the latter."

-David Foster Wallace, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again (page 161)

He gives Dahmer's dead body parts in the fridge beside his condiments as one illustration.

It's even more "Lynchian" that the sign overlooks Lynch's own house. :P

Yes, i guess that is a very good definition of "Lynchian". But i think the example - "body parts besides condiments" - was not the best. That example could be from any horror movie......There is something with the macabre and the extreme in lynch's movies that is different from other movies. At first sight it is difficult to point out... it is subtle. Like just the arrangement of the scenes... or like lynch's unique combination of elements within the movie.... like the combination of an unusual dialogue and some (haunting) music piece.

Well, i guess explaining or analysing the essence of what is unique to david lynch's art is a big task, to say the least. But much of it is just pure beauty. unforgettable. It is real art.
