- Earle’s poem written by Leo doesn’t match what we saw in an earlier episode. This one’s perfectly written. - The newspapers Earle used to build the giant pawn are Twin Peaks Gazettes. You can see that in the closeup of the arrow striking it. - The ep.27 woman shows up again, this time as the woman who gives applications to the Miss TP contestants. - The clock in the Roadhouse and another one in Blue Pine Lodge indicate the same time: 3:35 PM. Nice touch to indicate that the scenes follow each other. - Ben eating grapes in the background in the scene of the wine tasting soiree. We can briefly see him leaving too. - Behind Andy we can see a woman nodding and approving what he says about sparkling and white wines. - The bellman who gives Wheeler the telegram is named Jeff Moore (the name is on his batch). - Coop drives to the Gazebo with his car. We don't see it much during the series.

I thought the actor who played Heavy Metal Youth came off as really feminine. Was he going for that because it didn't seem to translate to the idea of the stereotypical heavy metal youth. I guess he was trying to infuse that stereotype with a fresh approach.

I railed on Ted Raimi (Rusty Tomaski/Heavy Metal Youth) in another thread. Yeah, I think the character could've been done alot better. I see how a funny stoner/headbanger type (a la Bill and Ted or Wayne and Garth) would work in that situation, but maybe less over the top, less effeminate. He did okay as a corpse (ie. not talking.) Let's give an 'awwww yeah' to Willie Garson, though (the roadie who cries, making Andy cry, that Hawk consoles later.) I really liked him in Sex and the City, too. So adorable in Twin Peaks!!! I wish Raimi had played it more low-key and vulnerable.

Bobby Briggs has a never ending supply of get rich quick schemes (and of course none of them pan out). I didn't realize how HUGE Mayor Milford's ears are "Would you like to accompany me on a nature study this afternoon?" - Cooper. This line makes all womens legs buckle. Was Earle's elaborate plan of the 3 piece poem only to instill fear in Cooper, nothing more? The cloaked figure from Episode 17 makes his 2nd and final appearance. "Hey, dude, would you mind stepping inside this HUGE chess piece?" "Yeah, sure, that sounds like a great idea!" I've always wondered what exactly Mike whispers in Bobby's ear that is so shocking concerning his dating Nadine. "She was so very beautiful." - Truman. Harry, Harry, Harry, give it a rest already! What happened to Annie to cause her to slit her wrists? Another drinking game addition - every time Lucy goes "Hmmmph.." Has anyone ever studied and deciphered the entire Owl Cave petroglyph? I seriously may do this someday.

Of course the first (no, actually second) scene of the episode is great, and Windom's speech about the Lodges could as well be his best moment in the series, still my favourite and most remarkable scene remains Cooper's and Wheeler's meeting in front of the fire. The two men of Audrey's, their first and only meeting, Coop doesn't even know Jack is talking about his Audrey... a magical moment of closeness between two people who share the same thing in their souls, who will never meet or talk about it again but in this very moment they are like brothers... the warmth of the fire and the warmth of the colours... and once more the gorgeous music. Splendid scene. There are ducks on the lake during Dale and Annie's "nature study" I suppose? The dead chess pawn is found in the gazebo - was this place chosen because some hours ago Windom watched Annie and Cooper in the very same place or is this link accidental? Yes, Cooper drives his car, moreover he drives it with an open window... I don't know it's still March there, late in the evening - isn't it kind of cold to be driving with open windows? I find the wine-tasting scene genuinely funny. Theoretically belongs together with those rather stupid scenes, along with Mr Pinkle banging at the wall in Leo's "chair" or the men falling under Lana's charm at the police station, or the weasel riot. But somehow I really like it and it keeps amusing me after all these years. And now we spit! I wonder how Cooper got the idea that it was Leo's handwriting (the poem). It doesn't seem obvious at all, does it? Once you get the idea, it's rather easy to check - but how did it come to him? I wonder why in the Log Lady intro to this episode the Log Lady talks about Norma, and with such emphasis. Norma doesn't even appear in this episode and the pie isn't very important, either, although a couple of people order it (last but not least - Gordon Cole, THREE EACH!). It actually seems like the only Log Lady intro that in any way refers directly to the world of Twin Peaks. Who invented the pie?
