- The script describes Wheeler’s strange machine as “a model for a complicated irrigation system”. It also mentions maps and sketches that can be seen on his bed. - Here we can clearly see that a bookholder in Harry’s desk is a deer. - Check Coop’s face just after Gordon screams “BANZAI!”. Priceless…and very brief. - Audrey is the queen of diamonds in Earle’s cards. Her dress in OEJ was the queen of diamonds. - In another episode Norma says the bathroom is through a door in the left part of the diner, but Truman goes to a door in the right. - The Miss Twin Peaks poster in the Double R, behind Gordon. - When Gordon is talking to Shelly we can see that the Log Lady has next to her a small house she made of toothpicks.
- Coop says he has mixed the Log Lady’s tattoo and the Major’s but he has drawn rhombus instead of triangles. - During the whole Diner R scene with Gordon (the "Love is in the air" scene) the music seems to come from the jukebox, you can even hear the click-clack indicative of records being changed between the tunes (thanks to Geoff for this one). - The running machine Ben uses in a 1st season ep. can be seen behind Jack when they’re talking - Through all the episode we can see in Harry’s throat the mark of the rope Jones used to strangle him. It’s clearly seen in the diner. - In Donna’s mail we can see an envelope addressed to a “Jeff Smith” from “Studio City, CA”. Probably a prop which they didn’t pay attention to… James postcard has the address right. - Andy has a much smaller flashlight than the rest of the group in Owl Cave. And I’m not saying that’s a metaphor for something else… - When the owls “attack” in Owl Cave you can hear their sounds but also screams, like the ones from BOB. - The 2nd shot of Annie’s wrist with the scar is freezed. - There’s a repeated shot of Earle approaching the petroglyph, right when he inverts the symbol. - In the petroglyph we can see another inverted owl symbol in the upper left corner of it, that Andy doesn’t reproduce in his sketch.

One other thing about James's postcard: The postmark actually says something like "June 197X." I don't have the screencap at my disposal to give you the exact year, but it is surely June and surely in the 70s. I'm thinking either 72 or 78, but I dunno why.

As usual I have never noticed it but that shows carefor detail a little unexpected at this point of the show, where I feel they kind of lost care for such things.

I noticed the wound in Harry's throat because of the new DVDs. Many years and many viewings and I see now that and many other things! Probably most of you felt the same way...

>>>When the owls “attack” in Owl Cave you can hear their sounds but also screams, like the ones from BOB. Interesting! Never noticed this before! But I haven't watched this episode on the new DVDs yet either. With the Spanish DVDs you were lucky if you could make out the dialogue! Episode 25 is one of my favourites, by the way. Great dialogue. I love the hang-over cures and the scenes at the Double R. I think this might be the only episode where I remember the comedy and soap opera bits better than I remember the progress with the investigation.
"What credit card do you want to put that on?" "Caash, prease."

I always thought this episode, significantly directed by Duwayne Dunham who did the first episode after the initial Pilot, to be a big improvement on the ones preceding it. Sure, the quality of episodes was unpredictable in the latter half of the second season but this one stands out as a very good episode on the whole. I suppose the 'love story' aspects of it are quite outright and actually happy in their own way, not so much of a melancholy feeling as there is with any romantic stories throughout the show as a whole. The love story parts of this show help to balance out the arguably ridiculous Owl Cave developments. With Dunham directing, I wonder if Lynch even helped out a little. Certain shots seem like ones in the Pilot, for example Harry and Coop standing either side of the frame where the hangover cure discussion occurs. That is similar to a shot in the Pilot where they first meet in the hospital. Lynch of course does appear so I don't know how much he involved himself with the actual making of the show. And what do people here make of Coop's penguin joke to Annie? I always remember that because I liked it for some reason, even though its a rather simple and sweet little joke. Some people could say it's not even that funny a joke, but I liked it!

In the italian version, Gordon Cole doesn't say BANZAI! but BONSAI! I guess it is another error of translation...

You'd definitely qualify for Log. Nah, you'd be the Giant for sure.
Beauty is momentary in the mind - The fitful tracing of a portal; But in the flesh it is immortal. The body dies; the body's beauty lives. So evenings die, in their green going, A wave, interminably flowing. So gardens die, their meek breath scenting the cowl of winter, done repenting. So maidens die, to the auroral Celebration of a maiden's choral. Susanna's music touched the bawdy strings Of those white elders; but, escaping, Left only Death's ironic scraping. Now in its immortality, it plays On the clear viol of her memory, And makes a constant sacrement of praise. ('Peter Quince at the Clavier' by Wallace Stevens)

The real Cable Bends Steel prop has the funniest article some joker had a blast creating. It's very stream of consciousness.

Also, one of the articles about Jonathan's death (Asian Man Killed!) reads in fact like a town meeting repeated over and over again.

I didn't notice that when it first aired about Cooper changing the symbols on Major Briggs neck from a triangle to rhombus when he is combining his and the Log Lady's tattoos, but that does kind of hurt continuity in a manner of speaking because he is basically changing the symbols to satisfy his own conclusions which doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I have always loved Michael Ontkean's afro. What is that bizarre contraption John Justice Wheeler is messing with in his hotel room? Looks like a rejected cafeteria food holder. Does JJ Wheeler have his sweater tucked into his pants? Hungover Truman gets the pleasure of listening to Gordon Cole's shoutspeak. What's the point of Earle sending the poem to Donna, Shelly, and Audrey if he's only going after the winner of Miss Twin Peaks? I wonder if a future season would have ever gone into how Eileen Hayward ended up in a wheelchair. Who constructed the secret passageway and created the peephole into Ben Horne's office? Why can Gordon Cole only hear Shelly without a hearing aid? Even back in '91, the production crew could have used shots of real owls and not have that fake cartoon owl flying around Owl Cave. The owls in Owl Cave must be disturbed at Cooper and company discovering the Owl Cave map which will lead them to the Lodges. Who constructed the Lodge related portions of Owl Cave? Native Americans?

Did you notice how pointless it was to introduce this affair with Miss Jones who tried to strangle Harry? I mean, if she had truly been an executive assistant to a guy like Eckhardt, she would definitely be good enough to strangle a drunk sheriff! Trained in martail arts and effective in executing whatever needed to be executed for her mighty boss. The "cliffhanger" for Ep.24, with Jones going into Harry's bed is rather poor as it hardly makes any sense to the viewers. The beginning of Ep.25 has some more tension and drama but the conclusion - the drunk sheriff sets himself free and nails the assailant to the wall - is plain ridiculous.
