- Obvious but remarkable: the three state policemen walking in line. - The Wallies set is interesting: check the paintings in the walls matching the look of the bar, a clock shaped like an owl and of course the aligned policemen; the columns seen in the first Wallies scene from the show are gone though. - When Bobby and Shelly leave the conference room….where are they going? The exit door from the station is the other way. - The marks on the map Albert has (cities where Earle sent Caroline clothes to police department) form a “C”. Cooper? Caroline? - When Nadine leaves the bedroom where Ed and Norma are you can hear that she squeezes the head of the figure in the trophy she won. - Coop smelling the coffee pot in Blue Pine Lodge. It won’t happen again… - A painting of an owl behind Catherine when she’s hearing on the phone Eckhardt’s and Josie’s conversation. - The sound effect heard when Eckhardt removes his sunglasses. - The language Eckhardt and Jones speak is afrikaans. - The peculiar painting in Eckhardt’s room: a girl dressed like a bunny. - Ben almost falling from the horse. - A figure of an owl in the bar at Wallies. - The transition between Coop leaving the chess piece on the board and Shelly’s boot, both with the same sound effect. - Ben’s “horse” can be heard whinnying. - What Leo has written in the poem doesn’t match what is seen in a later ep. And besides he doesn’t finish. - Donna is looking through the window at Evelyn and Malcolm and 2 seconds later enters through the door which is too far away from where she is. - In the scene with Evelyn, Malcolm, James and Donna you can see a painting in the wall of a woman (Evelyn?) with some stairs behind them. Those are the same stairs where Evelyn sits at the beginning of the episode. - In the photo of Caroline that Coop has she wears the same dress she and Annie wear in ep.29. - Coop’s black suit hanging in his room. He looks at it…

Yes it is interesting and it serves two very good scenes. DID YOU NOTICE that? QUOTE:- When Bobby and Shelly leave the conference room….where are they going? The exit door from the station is the other way.

QUOTE:- - When Nadine leaves the bedroom where Ed and Norma are you can hear that she squeezes the head of the figure in the trophy she won.

I get the impression that when Nadine squeezes her trophy she bends or twists the head of that figure, that she deforms the trophy with her adrenaline super strenght. But nothing actually happens to the trophy.... Quite interesting, don't you think!!? Maybe not. But it is a great ending to that particular scene. There is a little inconsistency between what Norma say and what she does at the end of that scene. As i see it Nadine verbally say that it is alright that Ed and Norma are together.... But than she does this to her figure as she leaves the room. She looks at Ed and Norma and a sudden bit of anger or displeasure, very little and very short(very subconscious or not conscious at all), arise in her mind, and she relieves this aggresion by squeezing her prize. Maybe deep inside(in the subconscious) a voice tells her(the old version of Nadine) that it is not alright that Ed is in bed with Norma? Or maybe it just really sucked getting second place? The scene ends with an ambivalent impression regarding Nadine's attitude towards Ed and Norma's relationship, and i guess Ed and Norma also feels this. And of course, this uncertainty when it comes to Nadine's view of Ed's affair with Norma shows up in other scenes. And something else that comes to mind - Is it not in this episode that Windom Earle forces that taser - collar thing on to Leo johnson.... Is the electroshock - collar something he got from the FBI when he worked there? Can anybody buy such a thing in the US? Where did he get it? Did he build it himself?

What is interesting about that electroshock collar is that Earle mentions that he was saving it for an special ocasion but Leo ruined it... I wonder what he wanted to do with it, use it with Coop maybe?

Typically something you say to your girlfriend, wife, etc. if you bought them expensive jewelry (or kinky s&m toy?) as a gift and you were planning on presenting it with some kind of romantic flourish, but she was snooping in your sock drawer and ruined the surprise. As if Leo was going to get a steak dinner and bouquet of roses along with it

So you could interpret the "special occasion, but you ruined it..." sentence in two different ways: You could interpret it in the way that Earle had planned to use the electroshock - collar on somebody else besides Leo. Heck, it could even be that Earle liked using it on himself!! He, He! Or you could interpret it in the way that this electroshock - collar was intended by Earle to be put on Leo all along.... but that Leo showed up at Earles place in the wood a little to early or something. With this interpretation it is like Earle knew that Leo would come to him... Like he had had a vision of a slave coming to him? Maybe he got a glimpse of the future in a black magic ritual or something like that? And now i would like to introduce todays top quality theory: I also believe that Windom Earle has used the electroshock - collar on Carl, the owner of the trailer park. This illuminates the mysterious episode in the trailer of Theresa banks, when Carl seems to zone out for a second.... What happens is that he hears the electric humming from that pole, and he gets a flashback of when Windom earle tortured him with the collar.... This also explain that woman in the doorway..... It is actually a hallucination of windom earle in woman clothing as this was what Earle was wearing as he tortured/interrogated Carl. How Chester and Sam also see that old woman i am not able to explain.... Maybe Carl just hallucinates really strong... so strong that others see his hallucinations. He he he!! Sometimes it all just fit together!!
This is a sentence and you are reading it now.

Although a lot of the storylines in this episode are the weaker ones, I do like Diane Keaton's directing style. James and Donna elude the Keystone Cops. Kenneth Welsh is a good actor and it's a shame the writers made his character way over the top. I think there's an identical picture hanging on the wall at the Blue Pine Lodge when Pete is talking to Cooper after going to the cleaners. It is the one of a HUGE tree in the sheriff's station lobby. This is where the Civil War storyline hit rock bottom. Why are Eckhardt and Catherine dressed in formal attire to eat at the Blue Pine Lodge? There could be a drinking game in this episode alone for every time there is a closeup shot of Evelyn with the veil. The slow motion (almost stop motion) shots of Evelyn killing Malcolm are cheesy as hell.
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this." -Dale Cooper
