but having seen all of lynch's movies multiple times, wild at heart is absolutely my favorite. its just so wonderful, miles above any of his other movies (though i do enjoy them all very much), flawless TO ME(note those words, haha). but as i understand it, many people dont like it. do people not like it as a lynch movie, or as a movie in general? and why? and please dont let me know how stupid i am, or how im not a 'true' lynch fan or anything, ahha...im just wondering why the dislike for this movie?

Hey I can call you crazy if you want, but hell yeah...WAH is an awesome film, I really love it... I guess people don't like it because it doesn't contain the mysteries that for example LH and MD contain, it doesn't invite you to think as much than those films...or TP of course...

well gordon, you can call me crazy if you like, cuz you seem cool, haha. just throughout my travels in the david lynch world ive met elitists that think if you dont like MD or LH better than his other movies you cant possibly be a david lynch fan, haha.

Eh, lots of people like WAH. I like parts of it. I'm just not one for sappy endings. And I'm definitely not one for Nicholas Cage. Seriously.

It's contradictory to gauge degrees of fandom by using favoritism as your barometer. That's also like saying that there were no Lynch fans before 1997, which is ridiculous and not just because it would exclude long time fans of Twin Peaks.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

My thoughts exactly. ...any movie can do without Ghost Rider.

Well said. Thank God somebody's talking sense. The long-term fans are strange creatures who existed in a time before before Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive (fancy). There are elitists but they tend to be the newer fans. The second season of Twin Peaks was only released a few months ago and since then the internet has been flooded with stupid questions and half baked theories from people who are watching it for the first time (exhibit A is www.imdb.com). Firewalking? WTF? People watch one DL film and then register with a message board and start a thread asking what they should watch next! Veteran DL fans had to do their own donkey work and form their own opinions. People are never going to agree on what's the best or worst of anything as long as we have free will. It all comes down to personal choice. If you feel really strongly that Wild at Heart is DL's best film put an advert in the press, wear a sandwich board, write a manifesto. It doesn't have to be a negative thing, like, a pox on all who oppose the supremacy of WAH. It's no longer one of my favourite films but I'm still a normal(ish), (relativedly) nice person. I'm not an elitist monster just because I prefer films DL has made since! Technically speaking it's elitist to prefer something you perceive to be less popular. Am rolling my eyes emphatically and pushing my tongue into my cheek as I type!
I ran from the noise and the silence, from the traffic on the streets

\i just saw WAH for the first time in years and I really love it. I think Lula and Sailor are great characters and Sailor's lines are so funny. Like when he is explaining about his jacket being a symbol of his personal freedom or something, or these gems: "ROCKIN' good news" "I'm sorry I referred to you gentlemen as homosexuals. You have taught me an important lesson in life. LULA!" And Laura Dern is so great and over the top in this...in all of Lynch's films that she is in. I love it!
Life is FULL of mysteries, Donna.
