okay, so a popular theory for ep 27 i believe it is, is that ben horne is startled by josie, because it cuts to pete staring at the wall and saying 'josie, i see your face' and then he waves as audrey is pulling him away.  ive heard many a time that he sees josie, but i don't buy it.  throughout the series pete has a knack for reciting poetry, and even makes up a poem about josie.  the way in which he says 'josie i see your face' sounds much more like a lamenting poem hes reciting than a declration or what he's seeing.  i think what ben sees will forever be a mystery, and pete is just reciting a poem for dear old josie.  no one ever sees her in the walls or anything.  anyone agree? or can provide insights to why im wrong?

I don't remember the scene with Pete but I would think the two scenes are connected. Both Ben and Pete sensed Josie. Does it matter if she is actually "seen" - just sensing her is just as significant.

Sure, they "sense" Josie, but do they "hear" her AND the REST of The Pussycats?!  Hit it, girls!!! "... long tails & ears for hats!"

Every time this "Josie trapped in the hotel wood" thing comes up there are always many people who think the idea is ridiculous, impossible... Understandable, it is indeed ridiculous, but didn't we all see Josie in the knob? If they tell us that she's trapped in the knob...why can't she be trapped in the walls, the whole hotel?

And the alternatives that are usually posted are that "It's just a mystery we'll never know" or "Josie in the knob was just an artistic touch with no particular meaning", etc. Nobody has written a plausible alternative, based in what we see (knob, Ben, Pete) and what we know about the circumstances of Josie's death, her body weight, etc. AND the wood holds many spirits, isn't it Margaret?

Josie trapped in the knob means... she's trapped in the knob. How could anyone dispute that?

Unlike the other dead or departed characters, she's conspicuously mentioned multiple times after her demise by several different players.  It struck me as the writers still wanting to keep her memory in the show's narrative as a possible later plot arc that never got the chance to emerge.

Got up early, found something's missing/ My only name/ No one else sees but I got stuck/ And soon forever came

Agreed, although I can't imagine why anyone would want to bring her back.

The fact that there was footage of her shot in the Black Lodge and the implication that Judy was Josie's sister supports the theory that there was an untapped story arc.

Is there any reason why it can't mean BOTH things? I totally agree that the line was in keeping with Pete's poetic nature, but that doesn't mean that there is only one way the line can be interpreted. In fact, most decent drama contains themes/dialogue with a double meaning - it wouldn't be good drama if it didn't. Things are rarely black and white even in the real world - in Twin Peaks, they never are.

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?
