Apologies if this has been covered in other IE topics, but as I have yet to venture all of 3 miles to our local Art House to see the film I don't want to stumble across any spoilers.

I think it's inspired Lynch is self distributing IE. However, and I'm a stickler for these kind of details...

 - Did he purposefully chose to self distribute, or could he not get a deal?

 - How much is it costing him to self distribute the film?

 - Is there any chance he will come out of this having made any money at all?

 - What the Hell was the budget for IE?

 - Any idea what Laura Dern and Co. got paid for their roles?

IMDB sucks at the moment because it just doesn't have this kind of info. available. I can usually rely on it to give budget info and gross takings to date. At the moment it only had gross takings, but they're not even up to date as the film is still being distributed etc...

Anyone have the above info, or ideas about it?

Anyone else obsessed with wanting to know the above info, like me?

On the second day he came
With a single red rose
Said "Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?"
I nodded my head as I lay on the bed
He said, "If I show you the roses will you follow?"

On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me
With a rock in his fist

They call me the wild rose
But my name was Eliza Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name was Eliza Day

OK, as far as I'm aware, you're in the UK. The only place where Lynch is TRULY self-distributing IE is in America itself. Optimum are handling the UK release, and a number of other European ones, I believe. The latest rumour I heard regarding the distribution is that Canal saw the finished movie and asked Lynch to make cuts. He refused, predictably enough - and ended up having to handle the US distribution of the movie.

I'm sure he paid Dern some kind of fee, as he would have done for all the actors, but it was probably minimal. He also gave Dern a co-producer credit, though - so she'll be entitled to a cut of any continuing revenue. The movie itself cannot have cost that much - the main costs would have been paying the actors and crew, I imagine. Even so, it's extremely unlikely that Lynch will make much (or any) profit from the theatrical run, but he may pick up some cash from the DVD - assuming every Lynch fan buys it!

Has he taken his eyes off it yet?

I would have imagined the budget to be in the $15 - $20 million range (about £7.5 - 10 million sterling, UK). Most of his other films have been in that region of late.

I wasn't aware it was being self distributed only in the US. I understood it was being self distributed all over the world.
