I'm totally stealing Dugpa's fire on this one, but check out the latest review and info:

http://dvdfile.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5987&Itemid=3

The actual stuff written about the series before he gets to the review is a bit garbagy since he spends a lot of time bashing the 2nd season before coming around to saying that it is "solid" ..and he incorrectly says that the LP murder is solved "about 15 episodes into the 2nd season" ...but it's still okay I guess.

I'm glad to hear that the video looks so great; I was a little concerned to see that they were planning on putting the whole season on only 6 discs when S1 took 4; but then again, I guess the lack of a DTS track for each significantly cuts down on the size needed.

The bonuses are a bummer (what do you think he meant by "some Log Lady intros"?  ...surely they didn't just randomly pick a few...?).  I guess we might have to wait till a larger set is released for more awesome bonuses.  I usually don't like re-buying repackaged DVDs, but in this case I don't mind as much.

Looking forward to the 10th!  (or is it really the 3rd, as Amazon states?)

April 13?  I haven't heard that one.  It still says 3rd on their sales page.  Maybe someone typed it wrong, combining 3 and 10.  ??  :)

LOL...stealing dugpa's fire, that's hilarious, Geoff...

I haven't been on Amazon for a while, but the last time I was there my account stated that season 2 would be arriving to my humble abode on April 5th...I should make sure that's still the case...Good to hear the video is solid. I wasn't really worried because all the seasons I own that are 6 disc set have good video, but it is nice to have confirmation on the Peaks set...

Oh Dugpa... :)

Incidentally, I just read your (much better) review of the set, and you answered my question about the LL intros. Thanks. you, as ever, da man.

Are you posting yet another on Monday?

The review I posted on the board was by Nick Hyman. I just got the set yesterday and will be checking it out this weekend to do a review.

I hadn't done any pre-ordering for the S2 standalone box because of the "Complete Mystery" being right on the horizon. But now that I'm hearing that S2's extras will be exclusive to the standalone, I'm... going to be broke by the end of the year, aren't I?

* Dugpa- When you said that the Complete Mystery should have extras not on previous releases and nothing will carry over, does that mean in your opinion, or is that what has been decided by the powers that be?  Sorry to be dense, but I already have the pilot, and will soon have both seasons on DVD.

* Why the different editions? Does someone think they will profit?

* FWWM deleted scenes....  If only...

We received our review copy today, and my first impressions of the DVD is pretty good. The video quality is great so far -- just scanned through a couple of episodes. I have to say, though, that I never noticed that Senor Droolcup wore a hearing aid, but you can see it in the video now. :) I didn't pay attention to the sound this evening -- just was wanting to finally see a pristine shot of Cooper laying on the floor bleeding.

The actor interviews are MUCH, MUCH better than season 1 interviews. Film and sound quality is good. I know a lot of time was spent putting together these interviews and they are generally good.

I'll have more this weekend if I can get around to writing a review.

Nothing is certain. It is all for profit from what I can tell. Deleted Scenes... who knows where or when...

Thanks to Brian and Jordan for all the info on the upcoming DVD set...Jordan's comments in particular make me really excited about it and you fellas are lucky to get advanced copies (12 days left for me during which I will watch season one to prep myself). One thing I noticed when I watched the season one was that the video was even better than the original series (that sound mix was damn good too) and Jordan noticing the hearing aid reminded me of that, so I have no doubts about the set's grooviness.

Wow!  Gordon's Did You Notice threads are going to become totally unmanageable in the near future.
