Anyone for March Madness?? Didn't get much of a response last year but since this is the greatest sporting event in the US of A, I gotta indulge myself...first off, I have to say this is one tough first round to crack, I mean really tough...so let's get to it...

Midwest Region...Florida has a relatively easy path to the Sweet 16...if Arizona wins against Purdue they could be formidable because they played the toughest schedule in the country, so they are battle tested...Georgia Tech and Wisconsin are both solid, Wisconsin defensively are good although you couldn't tell that in the Big Ten championship, but I have Oregon coming out of here especially after they destroyed USC by like 80 points in the Pac-10 final...there fore...1st round...Florida/Arizona with Florida winning: ODU/Maryland with Maryland winning: Winthrop/Oregon with Oregon winning: Ga Tech/Wisconsin with Wisconsin winning...2nd round has Florida, Maryland, Oregon and Wiaconsin moving on to the Sweet 16...Florida and Oregon in the regional final and Florida barely sqeaking by to make to Atlanta to defend their national title.

West Region...this one was kind of tough...plenty of good teams but with Kansas AND UCLA in it, c'mon...that is a regional final that can be as good as or better than any of the Final Four games...okay, first round results Kansas/Villanova with Kansas winning: Va Tech/So. Ill. with So. Ill winning: VCU/Pitt with Pitt winning: Gonzaga/UCLA with UCLA winning: into the sweet sixteen I have Kansas, So. illinois, Pitt and UCLA...flip a coin between Kansas and UCLA, pound for pound, their starting lineups respectively may be the two best...Pac-10 was unreal this year and the Big 12 had more than enough close games this year...um...Kansas, sorry to Susan's husband in advance...

East Region...this might be the toughest...UNC and Georgetown are the heavyweights with G-Town winning 15 of their last 16, that's the kind of momentum you need going into this thing...throw in Texas, a fiesty Vanderbilt team, Washington St and their leading percentage defense you got a big mess...here we go...UNC/Marquette with UNC winning: USC/Texas with Texas winning: Vandy/Washington St. with Wash St. winning...Boston College/G-Town with G-Town winning convincingly in this old school Big East matchup...so sweet 16 here: UNC, Texas, Washington St and Georgetown...UNC has too much depth and this can wear down any team so they will play Georgetown in a gut-wrenching regional final with G-Town winning

and finally, the South Region...this is the upset special region...Ohio State are the faves, but I think they are vulnerable especially if they play a team with more upperclassmen, like say, BYU...Tennessee, Louisville (always dangerous), Virginia with their awesome guard tandem. Texas A&M who also did well in some of those crazy Big 12 games this year, Creighton and the Memphis "anyone-could-win-20-plus-games-in-a-row-with-our-schedule" Tigers...here we go...Ohio State/BYU with BYU winning (that's right!): Tennesse/Virginia with Virginia winning: Louisville/Texas A&M (this one is so hard!)...Louisville...Creigton (who takes out Nevada in the first round)/Memphis with Memphis getting knocked out by Creighton...so sweet 16: BYU/Virginia/Louisville/Creighton...I have BYU and Louisville in the regional final four with Louisville returning to the final four for the second time under Rick Pitino...

Final Four: defending champs Florida versus best team right now Kansas...Kansas....G-Town and Louisville...big east rematch...G-Town wins and Kansas wins the final in a barburner vs. Georgetown...

Haven't come up with my selections yet.  For some reason, I can't find Drexel listed anywhere.

No, they put Old Dominion in instead...their reasoning was that ODU had a stronger record in conference and that Drexel although they were impressive on the road, did not do well enough in conference to warrant a bid...I am surprised that Syracuse and Kansas State got snubbed, they both had over 20 wins and 10 wins in conference, KSU was 4th in their conference and yet Texas Tech got in...and Arkansas got in, what? Should have Syracuse in insrtead of them...And they could have put KSU in instead of Illinois or Xavier...
