I'd never say I was a fan, but 39 is no age for anyone to pass away;  it's only 6 years older than me!  Having just read the BBC News page about it, I would be willing to bet she took her own life.  It's all rather sad.

My theory by A. Elk, brackets, Miss, brackets. This theory goes as follows and begins now. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too.

Another example of fame giving with one hand (money for instant gratification) and taking away (life, dignity) with the other.

yesterday I was thinking to myself:

When the Academy Awards come around, and they get to the "look back at those we've lost this past year", are they going to show Anna Nicole Smith? The answer is obviously yes.
This idea makes me rather ill to be honest.

We were asking ourselves that same question yesterday, MSA.  But I'm not sure they will.  She really wasn't much of a part of the film business. I think she only had a few itsy bitsy roles -- although one was in a Coen Brothers film and the other a Naked Gun movie. Certainly far less of a film figure than Jack Nance, whose death was overlooked by the Academy the year of his death.

It is a good question that will be interesting to check out come February 25.  I'm quessing "no."

She had the lead in a pair of mid-90s action flicks (To The Limit & Skyscraper), but yes,  small roles, cameos & the reality series...

Yeahbut, yeahbut, yeahbut... the question was would she be honored as part of the In Memorium segment of the Academy Awards presentations. And the point is she really did NOT have a film career per se. Those two straight to video flicks should be sufficient to illustrate the point.

Are you guessing they will include her, Chris?

Why, of course!! Her, and her (as Joe Bob Briggs would say) two enormous talents!!  Timing is everything here! If it'd been last spring, they may have swept her mammar--I mean MEMORY under the carpet. But as she's so relatively freshly passed...

Alrighty then.  You've weighed in.  Two weeks from now, we'll know.  And if you're wrong, I'll be very sensitive and caring and won't say anything like "I told you so!"

What would they designate as her occupation next to her name?  "Actress?" "Celebrity?"

No, Chris.  I just don't think she is viewed as having been a part of the inner sanctum of the Academy of Motion Pictures by its vaunted membership.

Then again, the image would look good alongside dearly departed choreographers.  She'd be recognizable to all.   Okay, I'm waffling a little now.

But, nah, I'm gonna stick with my gut on this one.  No Anna Nicole on the list of dead at the Academy Awards.

Susan

PS  Check this out.  It's the Academy's page on those who have died since February 1, 2006.  They include Sidney Sheldon so apparently this continues through to almost air time.  No Anna Nicole on this list.

Her life and death serve as another reminder for those who aspire to celebrity that's it's not all upside.  It can be a lonely, desperate, sad and tragic existence.

She was another famous for being famous type.  She had no special talent, and only attracted attention through outrageous public behaviour and exposing herself.

I'm guessing she won't be mentioned at the Oscars.

No mention of the passing of Anna Nicole Smith.  Not even a passing joke by Ellen Degeneres.  Gone but forgotten except by cable TV.

#1 reason for missing the Oscars this year:

- Ellen Degenerite

Come on - there must be dozens of better hosts who are actually funny!

How is it the MTV Movie awards manage to cane the Oscars for entertainment every year?  Start with a decent host...
