It is sort of amusing that LED displays that don't really look like bombs got the spotlight when there were actual fake (pipe)bombs discovered the same day.

Yeah, it was all over the news and my reaction was a deep, hearty belly-laugh. I found it even more amusing when it was revealed that more of the "devices" had been placed in other large cities all over the country but nobody seemed to care anywhere else. Guess they never sold Lite-Brites in Boston?

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate a degree of caution, and I applaud the city of Boston for taking relatively swift action when faced with possible terrorist activity. But I can't believe that LED pictures of the Mooninites shut down an entire metropolis for a whole day. No wonder the culprits only wanted to discuss hairstyles of the 70's.

Does this mean I can't take my Lite Brite on the plane now?

Sorry man.

Although, you may get away with it 'cause you're Canadian and all. All that politeness and stuff goes a long way.

That is the most rational, reasonable take I have heard on this subject. I could never have put it so succinctly and intelligently as that !

I agree with the ""NOW I can't bring my lightbrite on a plane" line. It frankly suprises me that with such apathy out there and ridicule and disbelief, that someone doesnt walk into a theatre and blow themselves up. then everyone would be frisked at the movies, made to take off their shoes, prices would sky rocket etc etc. I know I am on a soap box, but we take safety for granted and then want to laugh or point fingers and blame later if something bad happens. I'm not overly cautious, but bomb scares freak me out.
