I'm not surprised in the least. The Oscars don't really mean anything outside the mainstream anyhow. It would probably be nice to have one to show the grandkids but ultimately recogniton and exposure by the mainstream is a bad thing. The minute Lynch goes pop I'm outta here!

Yeah, it was bad news. Looks like no "best actor" nom for Sacha Baron Cohen. He shoulda been in Leo's place. Like Warren Beatty said after the Academy Awards where Bonnie and Clyde didn't win, "We was robbed." Oh, well, I don't care too much about the nominations or the winners. Generally I forget who won in any given year. It's all about the Red Carpet for me. February 25th here we come!

Don't know what that's supposed to mean. Lynch has been nominated for best director three times... unless you mean if he goes mainstream.

Well with the pedestal the oscars are put on in regards to what most people in the movie industry consider 'greatness', I just think that as a fan of alternative cinema, I wouldn't want my idols to have anything to do with this festival of luvvie backslapping. I mean if 'Crash' was best film of 2006 then the oscars aren't exactly credible in my eyes. But I was just being facetious really...take no notice. I don't really think Lynch is in danger of going 'pop'.
