I thought at first it was truth drugs, to make him confess Blue book´s secrets but later, when he is found by Hawk in the woods and he is at the Sheriff´s department with Harry, Cooper arrives and smells him, and he then says "He's been shot up with haloperidol". Why haloperidol? I thought that drug was only used to control mental problems... I remember someone saying on this board that haloperidol smells like scorched engine oil but someone else said that drug was odourless... I don´t know who´s right actually but I supposse it may not have such a penetrating smell.... I don´t know really. Any explanation?

Maybe shooting haloperidol to a sane person has the same effect than a truth serum or at least puts a person in a delirious state where it's easier to get answers... Remember, Earle faked his insanity using haloperidol.

I believe that the effect the haloperidol had in Briggs was to uncover the repressed memories regarding the White Lodge experience, which he didn't remember... He says that backwards line "That gum etc.", things like "love and hate open the gates", "When Jupiter and Saturn meet...", but overall it made the guy briefly but seriously nuts... King of Romania, the castle, etc.

Yes, you´re right Gordon! I think that is said at some point in the series...but I can´t remember in which episode, actually. Do you remember when it is said, exactly?

Thanks!

Episode 25 I think... Gordon talks about it when he informs Coop and Truman about Earle, who is meanwhile listening through "Josie's" bonsai... He also tells them about Earle's involvement in Project Blue Book and gives Coop a new gun... PURSUE, CAPTURE AND INCARCERATE!!

I had an ex-girlfriend who had taken Haloperidol for a condition she suffers from. Cannot remember what she said about it though. We are still in touch, so next time we speak I will ask her.

BTW, it's interesting that Gerard didn't just use haloperidol, but an unidentified mix of several drugs including that one. Cole calls it a "really weird stuff" and says Albert had never seen a drug like that...

I guess since he uses it to repress Mike's influence the writers decided to identify the drug as something weird, not just haloperidol... I've always thought that it's not a good plot device, a drug used to repress not a disease, but a supernatural possession?

I read some weeks ago the definition of Haloperidol in a Medical Terms Dictionary and all I can remember is something about mental disorders or something involving double personality, but I´m not sure and I can´t access to that dictionary now...

Anyway, the detail of Windom using that drug as well, makes me think about a (weird) theory I wrote some time ago in our Spanish board discussion of Twin Peaks that said maybe Windom´s doppelganger committed the crime against his wife... which implies Windom had already been in the Black Lodge a long time ago but he didn´t know it because he didn´t remember it.... Windom´s story could be something similar to what happens to Mickey Rourke´s character in Alan´s Parker film "Angel Heart". In many ways Windom acts as being possessed, so.... who knows?

Yes, I know it´s a crazy theory.... Anyway....................

I think that if Earle had been possessed by some evil entity at the time of Caroline's murder he wouldn't remember and be so proud of it. He uses details of the murder and Caroline to play with Coop (same wound in vagrant who is also named Powell, Caroline's items found in several places forming a "C" in a map, etc.), he says "I haven't been this excited since I punctured Caroline's aorta".

No, I believe it was 100 % Earle who killed Caroline and wounded Cooper... The guy was completely crazy already probably because of his BL obsession, he already committed a crime that Caroline witnessed and when he found out about the relationship of Coop and his wife he decided to get rid of them, just like that...

In real life, Haloperidol would have done nothing in terms of interrogating Major Briggs.  Haloperidol is used to treat schizophrenia, hyperactivity, nervious tics, and opioid withdrawal.  At the high doses that Briggs was given, it would at most sedate him, cause him to sweat alot, and possibly put him into a coma.  It would not be a good drug to interrogate someone with.
