I know a lot of you have already seen this, but for me it was the first chance to watch it colored and with a decent audio track. By the way, the style of this scene made me wanna rewatch it because I was focusing on the acting reather than following the reasoning. I found it brilliant anyway, it's a pity Lynch had to cut it out of the film, I think it would have been nice to see the two detectives at least another time.

Plus, I love Robert Froster from his magnificient work in Tarantino's Jackie Brown.

My main complaint about Mulholland Drive is this: I love that scene so much, and it suggests that MD could have been such an amazing show, that watching the movie depresses me now, and I don't enjoy it anymore. I just end up wishing that ABC weren't a bunch of dicks. 'Cause we're probably never going to see Lynch create another world like that again.

Here's a six-year-old interview with Forster which is kinda fun.

This interview made me remind of a wonderful movie by John Huston, Reflections in a Golden Eye and it's Forster first movie ever! Wonderful. If some of you haven't seen this masterpiece starring Marlon Brando, I highly recommend it.

I love that scene. Mulholland dr. would have worked brilliantly as a drama series/soap opera, and it would have been hilarious watching the cops' progress once a week in conversations like that one. It would have been nice having Adam live with his screenwriter friend next to Betty and Rita too. Lots of great soap possibilities there. I love the film, though.

There's a decent Xvid-quality rip of the leaked VHS pilot on an open torrent site. Is it all right to put a link up in this place for the benefit of those who haven't seen it, or do we steer clear of such things? I don't want to cause any trouble for this site. What do the moderators think?

I think it would be nice to see the original plot but just out of mere curiosity. By the way, I like the final feature film's idea because it reveals Lynch's genius in putting together a story like that after failing at the attempt of developing the plitor as a series. He created a world magnificently without the otherwisely big mistake of a plot filled with giant holes that another director would have made.

I would just remind you that the pilot has been known to ruin the movie for some who have seen it, and its quality is very poor. We only did a stereo 'temp mix' on it, there was no score, only some synth ideas from Angelo, and 300 VHS tapes were made for ABC and affiliates. It does not exist in any high quality medium.

David does not like the pilot and does not think it is representative of the final work. The feature is the artwork. I would ask you to respect that and not post a link to a bootlegged copy or download.

Don't worry, Mr. Neff, I won't because I don't know where to find it and I'm not going to start a search for it. I expressed my ideas quite clearly before.

I think the pilot can be seen/read out of context, understanding it's not part of the finished piece.

It's like being able to x-ray an oil painting an finding a different (or unfinished) painting underneath, something someone abandoned- Not intended for public viewing, but nevertheless interesting.

David of all people should understand our fascination with what's beneath the surface, shouldn't he?

yeh, that's the point. Anyway, Mr. Neff suggested, I think, that it's sort of illegal to post it here

Precisely, 12Rainbow. I appreciate the pilot edit as I would an outtake/bonus track on a reissue cd: an interesting early version that shows one direction the work could have taken but didn't. So I respectfully disagree with you, Mr Neff, that seeing the pilot detracts from the pleasure of seeing the feature film. For me it's like bonus material; deleted scenes and the like.

That said, I do appreciate the point and I will not post a link to the pilot.

Part of me wants to see the Pilot out of interest..that inquisative side that wants to understand tv and filmaking and the flow of ideas..however I have always resisted for the one main reason...I know it would ruin the film for me. The film is what it is and its magical..any knowledge of the process of idea making for it would ruin that. Its the same reason that I cannot partake in discussions over what it's about. I want it to stay as it is...strange, confusion and beautiful. The fact that David himself wishes it wasnt out there is added insentive to stay away!

Oh and this wasn't a dig at anyone who's watched it, I just wanted to add my 'two-pennith'..!
