- The shotgun hanging from some animal paws in Coop's room
- More ducks in Coop's room, in a painting and in the corner.
- Coop says it's 6:18 AM and we see two clocks with that hour.
- Fishermen baiting hooks behind Coop at the Great Northern.
- Audrey's shirt full of trees.
- Old woodsmen pictures in the wall of the conference room at the sheriff's station.
- If we look closely Doc's report about Laura's death it says the same he's saying to Coop and Harry.
- Doc has his arm on top of the report but in the Coop takes there's no arm and the papers are too close to Coop.
- In Leo's truck it says "Big Pussycat", with a picture of a cat scratching with his tail.
- The gas dispenser at Leo's house.
- Leo's red corvette partially covered behind Shelly.
- In the flashback of James and Laura they are next to Black Lake; we can hear the water and we briefly see it.
- "BEST FRIENDS" is carved in Laura's necklace, each word in each of the halves.
- Eileen is drawing when Donna goes to talk to her.
- The deputies jackets hanging in the main hallway of the sheriff station.
- There's an object that looks like a graduation hat on top of the jackets.
- A bridge just like Ronette's in the train model of the shop Norma and Nadine meet.
- Norma is bringing food to the store (the script says it's next to the Double R).
- Hawk and Ed doing the Bookhouse Boys sign.
- Coop is sanding the whistle he made in the pilot when he talks to Mike and Bobby.
- Josie says she's going to prepare a coffee pot, making her the main suspect of who put the fish in the percolator.
- More ducks in Blue Pine Lodge as well as chinese fans.
- The Timber Falls brochure in Catherine's and Ben's room episodes earlier than we know that's where they meet.
- Catherine is unbuttoning her shirt when she talks to Josie.
- A classic: the plant with the shape of Sarah's hair.
- The static bike behind Sarah.
- Janek Pulaski has his work helmet with him (he works at the mill).
- Gerard wears Nike sneakers.
- Ben using a cacao lipstick when he talks to Audrey.
- The deputy next to the Log Lady in the Double R.
- We see Leo opening and hiding the football he'll use in the next episode.
- In the transition from the scene of Leo about to hit Shelly and the next we hear the first blow he gives her.
- James bike in the establishing shot of the Hayward's house.
- In Laura's tape it says "To Dr. Jacoby with love Laura".
- Jacoby's fake fishbowl and his fish-shaped tie.

I'm loving this! Hope you don't run out of steam GORDON.
Beauty is momentary in the mind - The fitful tracing of a portal; But in the flesh it is immortal. The body dies; the body's beauty lives. So evenings die, in their green going, A wave, interminably flowing. So gardens die, their meek breath scenting the cowl of winter, done repenting. So maidens die, to the auroral Celebration of a maiden's choral. Susanna's music touched the bawdy strings Of those white elders; but, escaping, Left only Death's ironic scraping. Now in its immortality, it plays On the clear viol of her memory, And makes a constant sacrement of praise. ('Peter Quince at the Clavier' by Wallace Stevens)

I see I'm not the only one with a penchant for euphemisms. But seriously CCC, crudity is a dish best served in small portions and prepared, like offal, with milk to mask the smell.

"More ducks in Blue Pine Lodge as well as chinese fans." Maybe I'm forgetting something, but Gordon, are you confusing reality with the TV show? The Blue Pin Lodge was a filming location in the Pilot, not a filming location during the show. Or then again, I could be wrong.

If I'm not mistaken Blue Pine Lodge is the name of the Packards residence within the show... I remember Harry answering the phone in a season 2 ep. saying "Blue Pine Lodge?".

Only about Twin Peaks... Honestly, after seeing it so many times it's normal to notice so many useless things... And strange ones too... Seeing the Timber Falls brochure made my day.

I know what you mean. I felt so nerdy last time we had our marathon. I noticed that strangest things, and you are right, the funniest little detail can make your whole TP evening! So, do you sit down with pen and paper and write everything down while you watch the show? I think you´re cool Ditte

Thats an impressive list! I will look out for these the next time I watch! I know it wasnt in eppy 1 but i think it was eppy 2, I spotted a "Say No to Ghostwood" poster in the RR...but the whole say no to Ghostwood thing was in season 2 when Ben Horne flipped his wig! Odd!

A few others: - Coops wears a ring on his left pinky finger;
- When Nadine bumps into Norma she mentions, while speaking of her drape runners, that she was waiting for Ed to arrive home from intensive care;
- As Leo moves to beat Shelly, she cowers amongst plastic much like that used to wrap Laura up in;
- We don't here the end of the tape recording Jacoby is listening to. It breaks off just as she is about to reveal who the so-called 'Mystery man is ...'

Good point about the plastic at Leo Johnson's house. This is another red herring that tries to trick the viewer into thinking that Leo Johnson is the killer! (You are supposed to think: Leo took the plastic from his house to wrap up Laura...) There seem to be many red herrings like this in season one, eg, in the Tibetan rocks and bottles exercise, the bottle smashes just after Cooper calls out Leo's name. I have often thought how strange the Johnsons' house is, with that wall which is just plastic sheets, as if it is only half-constructed. Is this a metaphor for Leo's mind? His mind is only half-finished. He is unhinged and violent. In the "Lynch on Lynch" book, it keeps talking about how all of Lynch's films confuse inside and outside. In this case, the washing machine and chest of drawers, etc. are outside! Is this significant, I wonder...?

I think this episode was best summed up by Wrapped in Plastic magazine. This was a bridge episode between the wonderful pilot and the awesome upcoming dream sequence episode. It was good, just not a lot of action, more character development than anything. I forgot. Who was the Mystery Man that Laura refers to on the Jacoby tape at the end - Leo? Can't wait to watch Lynch directed episode 2 tonight - brie and butter baby!

According to a unused line from the episode 8 script, the killer took the plastic from Leo's house. So it was probably intended as a red herring. Since the image of Laura wrapped in plastic was the first idea of the show, the Johnson house might have been designed/chosen for its unfinished plastic-wrapped state
ALBERT Attempting to implicate Leo Johnson, he wrapped Laura's body in plastic that was taken from Leo's house or car. He carried the body to Elk River a quarter of a mile away and threw her in.
"What credit card do you want to put that on?" "Caash, prease."

Holy crap. I've been watching this show for thirteen years and I don't think it's ever occurred to me before that the plastic sheeting in the Johnson house was a clue like that.

The mystery man is BOB... She says he can't light her fire "as in red Corvette", never saying he actually owned a Corvette, but mentioning it. That's why we may think it's Leo, and even Harry does... There's a scene with Harry and James where this is more or less cleared up.

I thinkit's an absolutely fantastic episode -the way all non "event" episodes should be. It's all about character. I always thought she said Leo "can" light her F-I-R-E. The plastic sheeting at Leo's I'm surprised is an added "did you notice.." It was one of the major clues always talked about in reviews, and articles at the time. Did you notice that Audrey is the first to mention a "ring?" and in her scene with Ben she twists it on her finger many times? In the original script, she talks about Laura's pony Troy. The scene between Catherine and Pete in the next episode, is meant to take place during the day of this episode.

Right, that's why Catherine says "What did that FBI man want up here today?"... I noticed that after creating the thread...

I felt so stupid when I first heard the suggestion that the plastic from Leo's house had something to do with being wrapped in plastic. I never guess the murderer in Agatha Christie books either. Sigh.

i think this has been posted before but i would just like to mention that mysterious thing in the blue - lit room at the hospital. When Hawk follows Mike(though we dont know who this is yet) into the blue - lit room, we see briefly a object in there. There was a suggestion here on the board that it looked like some sort of oxygen - chamber. I dont know what it is, but i noticed it.
This is a sentence and you are reading it now.

What type of shoes is Agent Cooper wearing when he hangs upside down in his room? About how many deputees besides Andy and Hawk work for the Sheriff's department? Everytime I see Sheriff Truman swallow that entire donut in one bite it makes my throat hurt and I think he needs something to drink really bad to wash it down. Are the jail cells at the sheriff's station in the basement because there is light coming through the windows or off the main hall somewhere? Is it the shooting range that is downstairs? I could never figure out where the jail cells are for some reason. Donna must like hockey because she is wearing a hockey sweater. Josie would have looked so much better with long hair. Is there a balcony upstairs on the right side of the Palmer House? Even the trees in their yard look sinister and evil. Some of the special effects are unfortunately dated like when Sara imagines Donna is Laura. When Sara sees BOB by Laura's bed, is it because Leland was just upstairs? That's where it looks like he's coming from when he hears her screaming. Why didn't Hawk pursue the One Armed Man further in the morgue at the hospital? He clearly didn't work there by his wardrobe. James is supposed to be some tough, rebel biker and he comes over to Donna's house for dinner wearing a sweater looking like an absolute cheeseball. And he asks for fruit punch to drink! Not very manly.

I personally think Joan Chen pulls off short hair. You have to be really, really good looking to pull off short hair, a flawless face and features. And she pulls it off.

I think that short blonde haired chick from Melrose Place really pulled it off, can't remember her name.

Have you seen her recently? I saw an interview with her not long ago, and she looks amazing. To be honest, i never thought of her as being attractive in TP, but she sure is now!
