In episode 11, as Leland stares at the wall in the police station, and his view is sucked from the various, decorative holes within the wall. He hears a voice saying something over and over again. For the life of me, I can never figure out what this is saying. I always thought I heard the name ANNIE over and over again with something else...but I am unsure of what it really is. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds to me, sort of, like a little girl saying "Daddy"...like maybe Leland is remembering something from the past. BOB had been raping Laura through him since she was little. So it may be Laura's voice, as a child.

Yeah,I hear "Daddy",too and I think the same as Rabid Muse, that it was Laura's voice.
Beware of BOB

When I call out no one can hear me,when I whisper he thinks the message is for him only..my little voice inside my throat,I always think there must be something that I've done or something I can do...But no one no one comes to help,he says,a little girl like you...

I've always thought it was a little girl (Laura) saying "Daddy" too, and then the other word is "Leland", which sounds like Laura's little girl voice at the same time, but then when we see Harry, it becomes obvious it is him trying to snap Leland out of the trance, if you see what I mean.

These are all possibilities....but is there a way to find out exactly what was said? I listened, and listed....and it could very be "daddy",....but I don't think it says LELAND either....it sounds like something else. Could be anything. It still could be "annie"...but it is probably "Daddy".

FADE IN: INT.SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY LELAND'S POV: SOUND EFFECT: SCREAM Our view opens up to a cavernous dark hole from which we spirally withdraw from as we hear the blood curdling scream from a woman. As we continue to fall back we can also hear a hospital heart signature machine rhythmically beep along with the voice of a young girl that says 'daddy'. Our view still rotates as we back up and exit the cave to see a multitude of holes. We retreat further and see that we are looking at an extreme closeup of a sound proofing tile on the wall. We back up further and continue to hear the screams of a woman and the voice of a young girl say 'daddy'. SHERRIF HARRY S. TRUMAN steps into view from the right. The heart machine beeps faster and faster until it flatlines and becomes a tone. SHERIFF TRUMAN Leland. (This is from the episode 11 transcript you can find it here www.glastonberrygrove.net/texts/episode11.html)

Be advised that a transcript is something someone typed up while viewing the show. It's not the actual script of the episode as written by any of TP's writers. So it's open to interpretation based on what the transcriber thinks he or she hears. In other words, they're not a point of reference. That being said, I always heard "Daddy" being said. Sounds nothing like "Leland" or even "Annie" for that matter.

Would Annie make sense considering Leland doesn't know who she is? Just a thought! By the way, Hyde, you could check out the transcripts on glastonberrygrove.net, I find them usually very helpful and accurate. I still think the other word is Leland though. So there! (yydad, prft! )

The only reason I thought it might say ANNIE is because it sounds like it to me. No, it wouldn't make sense Leland hearing that...except for the fact that Laura had already seen Annie in her dream before she died (in FWWM) and since Bob inhabites Leland and Leland has been to the black lodge, he has already been in touch with Annie (since time has no meaning there) I admit I like the idea, because it would be great forshadowing, and I think this is around the time that they decided Audrey and Cooper WEREN'T going to hook up...so they might have come up with the IDEA of Annie, but not have known how she would be introduced yet. If you are looking for sense though...consider the JUDY crap from FWWM. At the end you see the monkey and hear the word "JUDY" whispered. It doesn't make sense there either....but it is still there. However, it could very well be Daddy. hell, it probably is Daddy. I just don't hear that. It isn't that important...it is just something fun to think about.
